Fully agree with the video, another thing to point out is that much of crimson isles money-making methods relied on the fact that most of the items were soulbound. By unsoulbinding most of the items early game players are going to suffer (assuming prices significantly drop when they release to the bazaar which i suspect they will), most players cant tackle the minibosses and the ones who can are probably doing better things in the first place. Being able to run around and farm basically anything crimson isles and make 15m/h+ due to the soulbind items having flips in demand was always a blessing for basically any player at any stage of the game looking for easy side money. (Think flipping blaze belts, ghast cloaks, snail pets, all of the above)
@zamas81415 күн бұрын
i think admins shouldn't force ironman to people if they don't want to. You can "ironman it" in a normal profile because you choose to do that, not because everything is soulbound. At most, requirements of kuudra completions and combat levels should be enough. It shows admins are on this same mindset also due to the " maybe coming soon" museum changes that allow people to unsolbound their maxed armor sets they put in museum for clean ones

I disagree. I think they should be unsoulbound because most of the player base simply do not enjoy doing kuudra. Why should they sacrifice most of their player's enjoyment for the sake of the very few? Plus, its another money making method for those who dont need it, yet have too much of it. Not everyone sweats the game and the admins are starting to understand that and that should be appreciated going forward. After all, it's better to let players speed through progression in order to catch up with the new updates instead of stopping progression entirely due to one aspect of the game they simply dont enjoy. This is ultimately for the health of the server. You gotta remember that skyblock still has many more updates to come and stopping players from progressing isnt going to help the server at all. Idk about you but I'd rather play on a server with tens of thousands of players than a server with only a couple hundred. And things are yet to be finalized. Maybe kuudra teeth, heavy pearls and nether stars will stay soulbounded, but even if they aren't, it's not like the game's going to be ruined due to nons. Everybody hates nons and I especially hate nons, but it isn't as if they're perpetually stupid. They'll learn eventually and if unavoidable, I'd rather have a non with full infernal gear doing t4 or t5 kuudra than a non with hot or burning. Thats just my opinion. 🤷♂️

That and the unsoulbinding would be heavily beneficial to both non and regular kuudra players anyway as kuudra players would be able to get keys faster which in theory pumps out more armor and brings down the prices of god rolls.
@waserof2 күн бұрын
Soulbinding creates variety in what the "most efficient" use of your time in the game is. If everything is simply put behind a coin paywall, the only content that the majority of players engage with will be fun gambling aspects like dungeons, or consistent money making grinds like mining and farming. Sure this is a choice people can make, but when the alternative is essentially wasting your time to get to the same place but slower, very few people will take that route and subsequently get burnt out and possibly quit. Of course this is all conjecture but I think its a very real concern and that if un-soulbinding is to go forward there needs to be some limiters or incentives put in place to make varied gameplay viable.
@JustADudeDoingSomething2 күн бұрын
@waserof Those who quit are bound to quit anyway. There's still so many things to do in the game and many more to come. And I think that's just objectively wrong to assume that players will quit the game simply because things are now more accessible. Because those very same players are still playing the game despite not even progressing in crimson isles or kuudra. They'll most likely just get it done with it and go back to doing what they have always been doing. Be it fishing, farming, mining, slayers, dungeons, or being roof ninjas in the hub. Again, the admins and Simon himself have said that they still have many plans in the working once 1.21 rolls out. There'll be many more custom things, many new possibilities, and just so much more content to explore. Kuudra isn't the end of it, and it's just wrong to gatekeep new updates from the majority of the players simply because they don't like kuudra. They're most likely doing this to push and encourage players to actually want to progress so that they can access new content more freely.

my biggest complaint is that the nether stars in all likelihood will become a money making method just like summoning eyes did! they serve essentially the same purpose, (as a playtime requirement before getting boss loot,) yet nether stars are a lot less annoying to farm than summoning eyes. there is an infestation of macroers and WAY too many low level players in shadow assassin or wise dragon looking to sell eyes to gamblers. its the main reason i gave up on getting edrag, and i really dont want to see a bunch of sb lvl 120 hyperion wielding nons to compete with while grinding my stars because it will NOT do wonders for my motivation to play this game.

Boss the thing is kuddra and the Infernal Isles in general already have a pretty insane barrier to entry for players (normal mobs having at least 1 mil health basically means a hype is required to do it without suffering), and on top of that have you tried to party finder any level of kuddra which is what a majority of players would have to do? Its worse than dungeons party finder by a mile. I also personnally am not a fan of 90% of the infernal Isles, but the infernal isles armor is used for a lot of stuff outside of infernal isles. I grind a lot of content myself for drops, but if I wanted to be an ironman player I would have selected it when I made my profile. The heavy pearls are probably going to end up being kinda overpriced anyway because there is still a limit to the 3 per day.

i wonder if you've talked to any long term players about this, i'm sure they all agreed with you :), although one thing i think we forgot to mention during our discussion was that although yes the armor is peak and the strongest out of dungeons sets, some things like magical power (something that is mostly p2w) and skills (50/50 on p2w because of things like jerry boxes) will still hold back players who rush kuudra for the infernal sets, they will still do vastly more damage, but i do still think after reviewing some more data that the kuudra teeth and heavy pearls should still not be unsoulbound, that i still firmly believe like you, but i think that we might have catastrophized a little quickly and should relook into the holdbacks, it's still a bad thing, and inflation is still in bound for players who p2w to get infernal sets and accessories for magical power, along with weapons such as hyperion and guilded fragged midas with 250m bid, the death of kuudra will happen, but it will be a bit slower than we originally thought
@lordotro5 күн бұрын
That's fair. Of course these new players wouldn't be as powerful do to those things you mentioned. However, we can also ask. Now that they have done it to melee swords and armors, what is next? That's one of the things we need to consider, but getting this snuffed out before that would help. And it is also bad for the new players. They see KZbinrs and older players using these sets and doing crazy DPS, so they hyper focus on these armors and ignore the rest of the game. That's what is already happening with "hype nons" Still, you're right, there are still boundaries that work to separate early and late game. And I probably should have considered that a bit.

There is a difference between gatekeeping and not giving everything in the game easily. If I wanted to gatekeep this, I would be saying that you should only do kuudra if you have (insert dumb high requirement) I'm just saying if you want the best sets, you have to put in the work. You don't even necessarily need the kuudra armors, you can do all the things in the game without it. So it's not like keeping infernal, is gatekeeping something else.
@Sombian4 күн бұрын
@lordotro Only about 1% of the player base is engaging with Kuudra due to its absurdly high barrier to entry and the unwanted "Ironman" experience it imposes. I understand it can feel frustrating when all your hard work and struggles suddenly seem worthless, and I'm not denying that. However, claiming that others should endure the same pain you experienced simply because you were a victim comes across as purely selfish.

Skyblock isn't "fully revolved around coins" and it should never be. Even Simon Hypixel said so recently on Twitter. "Games need more different ways of progression independent of wealth. I think you forget that to do any tier of kuudra, you need to get a certain amount of reputation to even do them. Also, why does it matter if they use a bunch of coins to buy these sets? they still had to get these coins somehow, its not like people are duping from this update. How is unsoulbinding heavy pearls even bad? they aren't even hard to get, they are just time gated lmao. On the topic of carries, there are literally carries for everything, slayers, kuudra, dungeons, etc. If you dont like this, why dont you play ironman? Crimson isle not being a solo experience is not true, the game has to make most things a solo available experience, just look at ironmen, id say eveything is possible solo other than dungeons, and even then people solo it. Coins can be an issue, but it also allows people to do what they like to gain coins, rather than forcing them into a corner to suffer and do kuudra and such. The gear grind wasn't even made solo either lmfao, you could grind with your coop and get teeth/essence/pearls and upgrade the gear together. Lastly, on the topic of the midas. To get even the minimum base of the sword that competes with dark claymore, you need to spend a RIDICULOUS amount of money on it. Like you NEED gdrag to even make it slightly better, and that's a pet that costs 1b coins. the sword also costs at least 330m because of the 250m req + fragments. 1.3B for a midas and gdrag? at that point a new player would just same another 500m to buy a wip hype, which IS arguably the best sword in the game, not because of its melee damage, but because of its versatility. If someone can get a 1.3b loan from a friend, i highly doubt they cant get another 1.9b.

i disagree, people who grinded the sets before are not getting disrespected, they had plenty of time to use the sets while other players couldnt, so it was absolutely worth it. i also dont think its bad that you can just buy the armor if you have the reqs, because its the same with everything else, its for example so easy to get maxed gear like term hype or claymore/midas if you have the money. and why would you even care when you are litrally ironman so it doesnt even affect you at all?
@lordotro5 күн бұрын
The way it affects me is two fold. One, as coins become more and more important they do become more important on ironman as well. Which I don't like. Secondly, as this low requirement high power gear becomes more available the admins will be making things more difficult to compensate. (What if you NEED infernal for the next combat update? What will ironman players do then?) And ironman players just can't keep up with something.
