It’s a bad idea to connect all of your trenches: once one is captured the enemy can avoid fire by simply moving through your trench line. The risk of your troops being exposed to fire between your trenches is far less than the enemy being able to use your trench line. Your entrenchments will be captured, so you should design your network in a way that forces the enemy to leave trenches in order to capture the next segment. Trenches that flank potentially captured trenches and avenues of advance from said trenches are important as well.

You should make 2 or 3 lines with trenches. The first line stop the enemy progression. The second and third line shoot on enemies who are fighting in the first trench. In my case, i killed 20k germans when i lost 2k soldiers with this tactic. Try to use units to scout enemy's artillery and shoot them with yours Sorry for my bad english :/ Goog game !

What I am not sure about is why you send troops in almost one-by-one, instead of creating a larger force for a big push.

I fail to really see at 12:20 what sending those two infantry companies to their death into the trench-line you had just seen seconds ago was fully manned by 4-5 French units was supposed to achieve other than dying for nothing and losing you resources and the cost of buying two more companies for later. Losing a recon company to MG fire is okay as it is the risks of the job, but sending your men into unwinnable assaults like that seems like it will hurt your cause more than help it.

Yeah, you need to get Barbed wire if you want a chance of defending against attacks like that. I thought this game is gonna be cheesable and be able to win ww1 in 1 year. Guess this battle showed that you really can't take any chances.

You only had one line of trenches and the AI knows where the weakest part of your line is. Once they breakthrough with enough force, that's it, they flood in your flank control point and you lose. Yo need to have 2-3 lines of trenches with some disconnected. Elastic defence. You have to have the MGS way back too since the arty will zero in on them.

For research, treat it like an adventurer skill tree. Do you want a mage, a warrior, or a gadgeteer? I would concentrate on infantry, logistic and offense research since you seem to want to attack.

attack from the flank of the trenches not head on if you can help it. And on the defence have at least 3 lines of trenches, start by building the cheapest trenches and then gradually upgrade them as battles progresses. Only 1 infantry per trench unless its a bottleneck that has to be held.

I'm intrigued by this game, so much that I'm going to get it as soon as I came. Having not played it please feel free to ignore my thoughts. Defense in depth is your friend, rather than stretch out across the front have several lines of trenches with MG nests and put the reenforced ones up front and put that just in front of your objectives. Offense at this point you are in the same spot as in the actual war, tactics and equipment don't really work against trenches. Stack up on one side hammer their line with arty and go with all that you can afford but still keep troops on the defensive, just in case.

It's so weird that there is no aerial reconnaissance. Early in the war, airplanes were used almost exclusively for that purpose. I'd be fine with it being a specific mission (i.e. planes sent to do air superiority or balloon busting don't give you recon), but it should definitely be an option. Honestly, it should be the default mission that you start with, and then air superiority should be something you research (so that you can shoot down recon planes).
@thehistoricalgamer Жыл бұрын
Yea... if anything the FIRST ariel mission you should unlock is a recon plane.
@kyle93watson Жыл бұрын
Didn't planes come into play later though? I could be wrong, so apologies.
@SonesBen Жыл бұрын
@@kyle93watson The RFC deployed the first aircraft to the front on August 13, 1914, in Amiens. So they were part of the war effort right from the start. Aircraft were being used for military purposes since 1910--mostly for reconnaissance, though the first plane to drop bombs on a ground target did so in 1911, in Libya. The first landing on the deck of a naval ship was also in 1911 (the US Navy was *very* interested in the potential of aircraft for spotting ships at sea). In the early stages of the Great War, airplanes were used strictly for reconnaissance (which is why it's weird that the game doesn't model that role in any way). They used cameras to record the positions of enemy trenches and the movements of troops. Pilots started carrying their service weapons so they could take pot shots at enemy pilots, and then the Germans developed a synchronizer that allowed hard-mounted machineguns to fire through an airplane's props, and the Allied Powers quickly followed suit.

I would pick the Corsair more flexibility in it's doctrine. It can be both Close Air support and a capable dogfighter. It defenitly fit the navy better at the start of Island Hopping than the Hellcat. Still I do love the Hell cat for going toe to toe with the best Navy fighter pilots in the world.

I hope you read and learn from the comments on how to defend as this could have been way easier if you make reserve trenches especially since you knew that conscripts are the weakest infantry in game. The AI did that during the first attack of the video which made your force not gaining extra ground which is why light arty is a option, suppressing numerous trenches for successful assaults.
