Very good analysis video! Definitely makes me rethink one of my favorite albums. If you like this album, I would check out one of his earlier albums "Overspecialized" in particular the song "just a whisper" is phenomenal. One correction I have is that "Semantics..." is not his first album, rather the first shown on his bandcamp page. He has another bandcamp page "goreshit archive" and the first album there is "watashi wa baka yaro desu" released in 2007. Just a minor detail but worth mentioning!

Really nice analysis, it’s always interesting to see how others interpret songs like these ! Personally I’ve always felt like o’er the flood was about someone seeing his life story unfold before his eyes before dying, and going through the flood of memories that suddenly comes at him (hence the title). The drums gain in intensity as he remembers his first struggles as a kid, and then the more painful struggles he had as an adult, and the end of the song is just him finally letting go of his life. So seeing such a different interpretation really helped me to discover the song in a new way, thanks for that !

A cool interesting detail that you pointed out in o'er the flood was the fact that the intensity of the song depicts the state the "protag" is in, because back in early 2017 another osu beatmap of this piece was ranked by Hobbes2 with storyboarding done by Spaghetti. In their case the "protag" is a sail that set out on a journey only to be confronted with a horrific storm (drop/climax of the song), and as soon as that part ends the ambiance starts kicking in with the boat being gone, presumably being underwater, and with the percussion completely gone the storm gradually fades out letting sunlight pierce the sky. Really cool analysis video!

I liked this analysis. didn't know these were all a part of the same album, I discovered them at different times and ended up liking all of them separately, the first two the most. Personally I feel like the tracks are very emotional, a lot more than other breakcore songs made me feel. Especially o'er the flood, that one is just magical. I don't know if I'll end up liking more of goreshit's stuff but, just these three are enough for me already, they're masterpieces.

I like this video. It is exactly what I thought when I was in middle school. I thought the theme of this song was depression, not death, and I thought it was a song that contained various processes such as falling into depression and suicidal thoughts. In particular, it is really nice that this video highlights the contradiction between calmness when listening to the melody line and intenseness when listening to the base line. I feel like I have someone who sympathizes with me.

My interpretation of O'er the flood was always about someone sinking to the bottom of the ocean, someone who couldn't move their body, sinking in endlessly, until there was no more light to see, no more to feel, and no hope of anyone dragging you back

Imo, "rossz csillag alatt született" is the best breakcore album ever created. Though i am admittedly biased by my suicidal tendencies and what i believe to be one's suicide in the title "ketsarku mozgalom" as the violent drop after the talking section. More specifically, i interpret the sudden high note as a jump, and the segment after as a parallel between falling into insanity before the suicide, and falling to one's death, after the jump.

Goreshit's been my go to artist for everything. His music is always one to bring me such comfort that I can't obtain from anywhere else. It's been there when there was no one and has helped me when there was no help. So seeing this was a must, lol.

The nature of dying is hands down my favorite one in this album. And i really like your interpretation of it. Like in 4:39, rather than fear, i feel a lot of anger. I think thats pretty funny thinking about fear leading to anger, then to hate, and suffering

I saw the whole video. But I am still confused about how this music can help people so much without them any of the story background. Am I missing something? Does it help because it is meant to portray raw emotions and people relate to it? I just found it fascinating how so many people felt so much with this music and the deep feelings they got from it. And coming from the opposite side of the music spectrum (classical music) I'm quite curious about how this music works for other people and the reasons it makes them feel what it makes them feel. I will appreciate any advice, help or information on the topic. Thanks.

Its hard to explain but I'd say raw emotion is the best way to put it. Have you ever listened to a classical piece that moves you to the point of feeling strong emotion? If so, that same feeling is what I and many others got from this music, and this emotion went so far that people started making interpretations of the tracks; because if the listeners are meant to feel this way... what was the composer feeling while making this? What was the "meaning" of death that goreshit was trying to have us feel? Why does it make us feel this way? I felt the same curiosity from listening to these, and thats what motivated the creation of this video (granted this was made ages ago and goes far beyond what the average listener would interpret). If you have no idea what I'm talking about... I'm not sure what to say since its something to be felt rather than explained, but I hope that helps at least a little. Thanks for watching also!

It is true some music is meant just to be felt instead of understood, and that you have to let it flow. But as a composer I also get fascinated at how people react to my music. With my last track 4 people cried with that piece, and I still don't know where the magic of that lies. And of course, I have heard pieces of music that straight up saved my life or broke me. Like Beethoven's Heiliger Dankgesang (most sublime piece of music in my opinion, the nature of life unfolds in front of your eyes) or Mahler's Kindertotenlieder (if you listen to that while reading the lyrics good luck not feeling like you lost a child yourself after it). It's something I should think about, how my interpretation was different from yours and possibly because of that, my least favourite song was O'er the Flood and my favourite song was The Looming Shadow of a Tree Long Gone. I do like really heavy sounds too so that could also be a big factor

Interesting video here on this album I am an extreme long time goreshit listener and I urge you to check out some of the earlier work from him this analysis is pretty neat though considering a lot of the feelings and vibes you got from the tracks are certainly present in goreshits personality as a whole interesting enough only 2 months ago he uploaded a video on his perspective on suicide and the mental ailments hes gone through and hardships etc etc. (link here if you're curious: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nKPKoZZrqcSneck). Some interesting older albums that are probably worth checking out is stuff like "With All My Heart." which as far as I know/remember was made entirely or partially while he was in a mental facility. And one of his newer works being i can't help you which I find very much captures the feeling and sound of some of his older breakcore stuff just in a more progressive manner. If you're interested in other artists and sounds that sound like his work though i'd be down to talk about it sometime (c4#1562) and show you some other amazing breakcore albums that I believe can hold a decent candle to semantics. I really think there's no such a thing as "the greatest album" in any genre of music honestly, there's just good albums, great albums, bad albums and shitty albums. Now that I think of it, goreshit is the entire reason I listen to Breakcore, he's the one person that got me into the underground side of electronic music in the first place, and "the nature of dying" has always been my favorite track by him since the first time I listened to it.
