If this was played by someone on a guitar, there'd be dozens of "all she does is play a million notes per second, she has no feel" comments all over the place ;-)

If someone played this on guitar, we would all say wow that’s amazing that somebody can play two parts at the same time!

I can definitely see Adam Neely's influence on the in-between edits here and there. Loved the out of the blue Layla part, great!
@Sorc476 жыл бұрын
I'm noticing influences from Adam as well, they're great. Those edits keep the video interesting at all times. You have to watch it to not miss anything instead of listening to it in the background, so you stay focused on the topic, which is really important when it comes to Rick's videos.
@logknees6 жыл бұрын
I agree with the in an out edits, they’re awesome, but he’s gotta use a cross fade or something when transitioning clips. Just a lil pop but I dig the style! Great video my dude
@damienro06 жыл бұрын
Im not sure I get how this is djenty, I'd say its definetly shreddy, but isn't djent more about odd time signatures, and off-beats?
@RickBeato6 жыл бұрын
It's a joke, but it is shreddy!
@Ryan-ji3xk6 жыл бұрын
Nah, most djent is in 4/4. sometimes riffs or licks can play on up beats, but it's really the tone of down-tuned (or extended range) guitars that make djent what it is; that and octaves, pre-bends, and up-picking after palm-mutes. That's a very basic break down. But most metal is influenced by classical music (and obviously rock).
@Ryan-ji3xk6 жыл бұрын
BassPianoBassPiano I'm looking it up right now, thanks.
@damienro06 жыл бұрын
Yeah...kind of...no THAT djenty, a bit more riffy than djenty but a little part towards the end, yeah probably.
@SuperIdiotMan006 жыл бұрын
I think djenty would be playing some low C octaves intermittently, right?
@AshStJohnmusic6 жыл бұрын

Djent = onomatopoeia for the distorted, down-tuned, and palm-muted guitar of certain metal riffs. I still like what you did on the piano though. 👍

Yeah, that's the best lick I've ever heard on piano - maybe the best Classical lick on any instrument. I was transfixed the first time I heard Martha play it. She truly is extraordinary. Thanks for displaying the music. I had no idea was on all white keys.

I never understood why when a musician is so technically brilliant it does not move some people. They complain it has no feeling. I disagree. I can feel the tension in not only the music but even metaphorically the struggle of a bird flying in a heavy wind.

My favorite is the second piano concerto, that first movement slays me every time! I'm particularly fond of the Anna Vinnitskaya rendition on that one (there's a video with the sheets here on youtube). But on everything else Martha is on top of my list hahaha Her performance of Prokofiev's Cinderella for two pianos is also great (I haven't found it on youtube, but the Album It's on spotify). In any case, Prokofiev's works are amazing and worth checking out.
