The first time I beat my dad was only quite recently (I’m 17). In my defense, my dad played a lot of chess. I won with a great move. I captured a pawn with my rook in a way that looked like it was a sacrifice, but in reality if he took it I had checkmate in 3 moves. He didn’t take it but the advantage I gained from that was a enough to turn the tide in my favor

After Knight takes Queen in 1:40, White can move his King to G2, and if both White and Black play the best move possible, it will eventually lead to White winning after 36 moves. At least according to the engine.

your second example in the first game, is no longer a defeat for the white king, it has a peaceful square to move.

But it’s a winning endgame where black is a knight up with better pawn structure

1:46 Instead of xg3, white can play Kg1 to avoid mate. The only sensible option will be ...Nxf1 then xh3 and black must play ...Ng2 to save the knight and white will have successfully escaped mate at the cost of one knight.
