I would add the reveal about the Master and the YANA foreshadowing in Martha's season as one of the greatest, even better than the Stolen Earth reveals. The fact they were able to revive a villain that had gone off air for so long and in such an effective and shocking way, was amazing to me. Also, the Torchwood reveal in season 2 with the Cybermen Vs Daleks what if.

The cliffhanger for Part Two of Spearhead From Space is my favourite cliffhanger of all time, it’s unsettling, creepy, and if you were watching this for the first time when you were a kid, traumatising.

A truly creepy classic cliffhanger. It was on the shortlist but missed out this time. Might show if/when I do some more Cliffhangers and Twists.

@@TheWatcherOnWho it also has (in my opinion) a good but short chase scene, with him literally legging it, nearly getting shot by the Auton, and redoing the scene in Part Three to include the Autons wrist opening is honestly really cool, and it must’ve shocked a ton of people when they watched it back in 1970.

The biggest drop however I think is between part 4 of City of Death and part 1 of Creature from the Pit, going from 16.1 million to 9.3 million. But that was due to industrial action taking ITV off the air when City of death was broadcast and having returned when Creature was broadcast

Yes that season the viewing figures peaked and dropped with ITV's industrial action happening. From the season before The Power Of Kroll saw an increase of 5.9 million viewers between episodes 1 and 2 but the 2nd episode was broadcast during Christmas which could have been an influential factor.

Personally I believe that Utopia is one of the best episodes in terms of cliffhangers

So many great clifhangers in classic who its hard to rank them, but with the modern era I would say the Masters return at the end of utopia and the tenth doctors shock regeneration at end of stolen earth were pretty great

I would agree with the Master's return in Utopia apart from it was highly anticipated but the big shock from what I recall watching when it was originally broadcast was it was Derek Jacobi (initially) as the Master as opposed to John Simm until the regeneration. I feel the Master's revelation in Spyfall held more shock value as it wasn't anticipated.

@@TheWatcherOnWho that was so unexpected because it was so soon after the last incarnation. I have to admit Sashas Master is the best thing about the chibbnal era for me, his performance was pretty great and way better than the main cast who were so dull and lifeless most of the time

You have to remember, most people watching the show were kids and had no idea who they were, so for their parents sitting next to them, which is what happened to me, to finally turn and say "OMG, I know this guy!", caused EVEN MORE terror and fear than even the Daleks and Cybermen put together! Back then, most people didn't pay attention to the media anyway.
