For the younger or new crowd who weren't around for the 1.6/1.5/1.3/etc. days: that first clip on cobble is so impressive 😲. It's a more difficult solo jump than getting from the roof onto the rock in Nuke. Not only do you have to hit a bunny hop while changing height and guessing if you are at the right level, but the momentum has to carry you over that large gap. They quickly banned planting on top of the box since it created an obvious disadvantage, but for a short time it was allowed.

Also for the youngsters, the opposite team filed a dispute on the match and got the win because it was illegal, but then after rules got changed and planting on top was banned. Was so much drama on gotfrag forums iirc

@@lulalelilo I believe it. I'm old and not sure if it's the correct time period, but they banned bunny hopping because some people were using scripts and it was hard to tell if someone was doing it legitimately. So, it may have been that was the dispute. B-hopped and therefore was an illegal move.

Same guys. I played on team BiO back in the day and it's amazing to look back at this. I was in college back then and I'm now 42 this month. Nothing will rival the 1.6 days in terms of hype. That game helped pave the way for Esports today.

@@arc-sd8sk I've done the jump with lj, hj, wj and dd+wj... with dd+wj it's only possible if the server doesn't block the duck scroll (fastcup does), wj is reasonably easy, with lj I needed to align the height of the box, but with hj it's easier than wj

Thank you for this 1.6 series. Please, never stop. In fact, if you could, try doing some Day of Defeat 1.3 and Source moments. DoD 1.3 was, at least for me, the best teambased competitive FPS of all time. I go back and forth with CS 1.6, but DoD 1.3 to me has something that I couldn't find anywhere else, ever again. I'm sad.

The SpawN clip, the only reason they checkd the bomb again was because it was on LAN and he started waving his fist in the air before the defuse, so the enemy actually saw him in real life and started shooting behind the box ingame.

As 36 years old man, I remember some incredible maps in C.S 1.6 Aztec, dust, militia, assault, so many other great maps , and when joining internet servers it was so exciting. 16 vs 16 in big maps. Unforgettable memories.

The nuke defuse through the ground was a pretty important moment, because it started the wheels turning on the ruling of "the bomb must be in your line of sight to be able to defuse it" instead of being able to defuse it through a wall or a box, which was a problem at that time. It also made certain types of plants illegal

When the game was still competitive but built on friendship and funny moments... nowadays its all about win or die and if someone fail to clutch the knife round there's always that one guy who goes《GG im throwing the game now.》counter-strike has lost it's magic to skins and statistics.

I'm 23 years old. I grew up on CS online, cs browser standalone, and CS:Source, I picked up csgo when it came out and I've been playing it ever since. I started playing 1.6 a few years ago, and it blew my mind how paper thin the walls are on every map. Seriously, i was getting spammed with an AK through like 3 walls and it was honestly kind of annoying lol. I like going back and playing the OG games though because even if i get destroyed by guys that have been playing since they were young, it's like experiencing the past again.

As someone who started on unreal tournament and half life death match I must say, 1.6 was peak cs to me At some point I've played it so much that I was mostly playing on fy_maps for the fast pace or moded warcraft servers for tons of fun You could choose your race and level up Like elves having snares and lifesteal, humans going invisible, orcs with 400 damage max lvl nades haaaa good times! Now I haven't even play csgo2 or whatever it's called even though I got it on steam 🤷🏻‍♂️
