I genuinely want the soul eater re-write where we get more back stories and details into characters personal lives. Like how did this dude, a total womanizer, get to be death's right hand man. And how strong is he actually? It's very confusing.

It's explained a little bit more in the Manga, but Death Scythe is actually one of the only people who is fully compatible with Stein and Death, that's what allows him to resonate with them and allows them to wield him.

​@@ShiroNyankotv his former wife made him into a excelent literal "death scythe" (taking into account the fact he is literally a "weed pruning type" scythe and the connotation that kind of scythe has in the western hemisphere [not the small curved one, that is for crops, hence the shape and size is largelly different from the bigger one]) after spirit told her that he was constantly tortured by his first wielder/meister (frank-ën stain) as subject of his experiments since their late childhood/teenage years of spirit and franken (they did share time together since they were paired as weapon-meister duo), upon hearing him, she became his meister until crafting him into a ultimate class weapon so spirit could be for good away from his torturer and start healing the traumas from being a "lab rat", and hopping her husband would be on better hands under the care and oversight of his definitive weapon meister (god/the lord death/grim reaper himself [despiste it's genderless, it's personality is of a male individual]) possibly the best meister spirit could have ever in history since the lord death was the enbodyment of what a guardian deity should be (righteous, gentle, peaceful, humble, optimistic and kind, the features should a positively perfect being should have).
