The Honda VLX 600 Shadow is THE greatest "first" motorcycle everyone who wants to ride, should have. The value of this bike, along with the fun and ease of working on it, is a phenomenal introduction into the world of Motorcycles!

I own a 2004 vlx. In my opinion these bikes are already custom bobbers from the factory. The bike is beautiful stock with great lines and angles.

i’m well into bikes and owning them…i’ve owned 4 bikes within the last year of being a new rider lmao. i’m looking for a cruiser right now, considering a shadow or even a xs650 for real! that’s beautiful

The Shadow, just all around, is beyond reliable, easy to work on and looks damn good, even stock.

I've never ridden a Shadow 600, but as the owner of a a Shadow 750, I can confirm that a used 750 is both an ideal first bike for a new rider with the added benefit of also being a fantastic bike for ANY rider. You can pick up used 750s in great shape and with low miles for $3,000 or less all day long. They're ridiculously reliable and durable, and cheap to own/maintain/repair/insure. Plenty of power for any kind of cruiser riding, including2-up touring and highway speeds. Downsides: You're not going to win any stoplight drag races...ever. Also, the otherwise-magnificent 750 engine is cursed with an old school dipstick to check your oil levels, and that sucks if you're used to bikes with a sight glass to check your oil level. It's also a great blank canvas for customization: bobber, cafe racer, dresser, chopper...all possible.

My first bike was a fully dressed 99 shadow ace 750. It had V&H pipes and a kuryakyn hypercharger. Loved that thing until my wife fell in love with 2-up riding then upgraded to a Vulcan 1500 fi

I don't think you'll be needing those passenger pegs anymore. 😉 I had a shadow 1100 as my first and loved it. Pretty much stock except the exhaust. I have since moved on to a yamaha xsr900. Loving it like crazy too but do kinda want to get another shadow as a second bike to go the bobber route.

I keep telling myself the same but for some reason just leave them on.

I need to start branching off into other colors!

@@cyclesandcigars the candy was the factory color. At the time they were new and pretty expensive for new younger riders at the time. But what’s funny. Many times the color was so pretty that their owners often never repainted. If I had the room I’d love to have one.
