One of my best friends called me one day in a panic and asked how much cash I had within reach. Told him $5k. Told me to grab it and meet him at an address. I gave him the 5 and he came out 10 minutes later with an all original 59 bassman. It even had the old 2 prong plug. He still plays this amp and yes he paid me back. Good friends!

I love how the amp responds at 2:06 when he goes from digging in to softer picking. No effects or peddles. Never touched a knob or switch. Just the amp interacting with the player.

I’ve found that as another reason I’m not enjoying my current situation and needing to rely on sims. My champ head I built is beautifully responsive. My MT15 less so but still more than interface into laptop. Cannot wait for the situation to change where I can start using my amps properly. Touch response makes such a difference
@jtracome87
@jtracome87 Жыл бұрын
@@shugo541 I suggest investing in a loadbox/I.R. unit, and plug your champ/MT15 into it, and from there plug that into your interface it will already sound less sterile in and of itself because you're not putting it through an amp sim

Yes, probably the greatest guitar amp or at least most influential one ever. Think of what these amps spawned. I inherited a Reissue '59 and that's actually a terrific sounding amp. The first time I played it out I cranked it and remember thinking oooh that sounds like a Marshall. And I had a couple of those, too, so I got it right away. Funny how bass players never cottoned to the Bassman amp! Harp players die for them, too, and would kill to have an original '59 Bassman. My friend Jack K. has one and he won't let anyone EVER play guitar through it. Nice video, love your channel.

How can I not? Because I'm a Tele player, and tweeds and Telecasters just don't go together unless all you do is play the front pickup. Tweeds have too hard of a sound to do any quick chicken-picking on the rear pickup. There's a reason you almost never see a tweed in Nashville. They're a good old-style rock and blues amp if you're into Hendrix and Beck from the 60's and actually make a surprisingly good jazz amp, but they don't cut it for country. No one amp can do everything.

This video could easily be 1h longer and I would still be watching it over and over again! I think bassman sounds "rounder" than JTM 45. Maybe is the 6L6 tubes... I like that! Unfortunately, It's really hard to find one of those here in Brazil (even the reissued versions are rare and very expensive around here). But if someday I order a handmade amp, definitely is gonna be a "bassman"!

Actually has a company in Brazil doing good preamps pedal, check it out! 56inc: - 2plus (mesa IIC+). Great clean tones very "Fenderish" and of course the classic Mesa Boogie distortion type of sound.

Someone commented earlier that this and the 50W Marshall (1968 if I remember correctly) you demoed are two of the best amps they've heard. What most people forget is this was designed as a bass amp, and I have yet to hear a bass played through one. Rich, harmonic and dynamic. Notes sound like they just jump off the speakers. Amazing. Thanks again Johan. Made my day!!!

I found your channel while researching some amps today and I’m damn blown away by your tone, on all amps.. I’m going to be watching a whole lot more of your videos while studying the shit out of your technique. Haha well I was looking into a $600 fender amp to start with, and now I think I’m ready to sell one of my vintage martins to find myself a glorious time capsule of an amp like this. Quite possibly the best tone I’ve ever heard.

Great sounding amp! Ha. Great video again. Would love to hear an accoustic play through it to really test the clean sound. Something in the sound informs me that it would sound great.
