The first Pharaoh was there 4000 years when Mitzrahim the son of Ham settled in his land. The Israelites built all the cities on Egypt. Nebuchadnezzar was never in Mesopotamia, Mesopotamia is in Syria. He was on Shinar Babylon that is Iraq. Don't know what is meant by BC but I know it happens over 1000 years ago. After the Israelites spent 70 years in Babylon with the Chaldeans and king Nebuchadnezzar reigned for 30+ years over them then died they left and went back to their land and then they were rooted up and sold into slavery by the moors and later the Caucasians.

In my historical analysis, Cyrus the Great was simply one of the greatest strategists and conquerors in military history. Cyrus was, first and foremost, a military genius! Cyrus, whose ancient name was "Kuruš", is one of the few who truly deserves this epithet: "Great". As a matter of fact, Cyrus, for the first time in history, became the main driving force behind the unification of the Middle East under one political entity. Before Cyrus, no ruler had managed to achieve such a feat, not even Nebuchadnezzar, Ashurbanipal, Sargon, or Ramses. Therefore, Cyrus was unique in history. Cyrus, in fact, had been the "founding father" of the very first global empire in history: the Achaemenid Empire! With the exception of Egypt (Mudrâya), which was conquered by Cambyses II after the Battle of Pelusium (525 BC), Cyrus, incredible as it may seem, simply managed to conquer 3 of the 4 empires that controlled the Middle East throughout the 6th century BC: Lydia (Sparda), which was conquered in 547 BC; Media (Māda), which was conquered in 550 BC; and, lastly, Babylon itself (Bābiruš), which was conquered in 539 BC. Moreover, there's something most probably don't know: Cyrus carried out one of the very first political revolutions in history! Cyrus made the Persians, who were then a submissive and vassal people, into the ruling people of the Iranian Plateau. Before Cyrus' revolution, the Persians were nothing but a tributary and "vassal" people under Median sovereignty. Between 678 and 550 BC, the Medes (Μήδοι/Māda), who were another Iranian people/civilization, had been the hegemonic military power of the Iranian Plateau. Altogether, the Medes had 4 kings: Deioces/Dahyuka (727-675 BC), Phraortes/Fravartiš (675-625 BC), Cyaxares/Huvaxštra (625-585 BC), and Astyages/Rštivaigah (585-550 BC). As a matter of fact, the Persians had been "vassals" of the Medes since the reign of Phraortes (675-625 BC), the second Median king, who managed to subjugate both the Persians and Parthians. Throughout the reigns of Phraortes, Cyaxares and Astyages, the Persians, whose main political center was located in the Elamite city of Anshan, had remained as mere "vassals" of the Medes. Before Cyrus's rebellion, the region of Persia (Περσίς/Pārsa), which is the historical homeland of the Persians, was quintessentially a mere province within the powerful Median Empire. All of Cyrus's ancestors, including the founder of the Achaemenid dynasty himself, the near-mythical king Achaemenes (Haxāmamiš), had been vassal kings under Median and/or Assyrian sovereignty. All of Cyrus' ancestors, with no exceptions, were vassals of the Medes and Assyrians, including his father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather. All Persian kings before Cyrus were vassals of the Medes, including Cambyses I/Kabūjiya (580-559 BC), who was Cyrus' father; Cyrus I (640-580 BC), who was Cyrus II's grandfather; Teispes/Cišpiš (675-640 BC), who was Cyrus' great-grandfather; and Achaemenes/Haxāmaniš, who was supposedly Cyrus' great- great-grandfather. It is not possible to know whether Achaemenes really existed or not. He only appears in Darius's Behistun Inscription. However, Cyrus did not mention him. Whether Achaemenes is mythological or not, it was he who gave rise to the name of the most powerful and glorious Persian dynasty: the Achaemenids (Haxâmanišiya). In 550 BC, however, everything had changed: Cyrus II rebelled against Astyages, the last Median king. Therefore, Cyrus became the first Persian king to rule over the Medes, his former masters. Once a vassal people, Cyrus made the Persians a sovereign people over their former overlords: the Medes. After the foundation of the Achaemenid Empire by Cyrus, there was a certain "fusion" between the Medes and Persians. Cyrus, for the first time in history, managed to unify the two main Iranian peoples, the Medes and Persians, into a single hegemonic nation. In other words, there was no longer any political and/or cultural distinction between Medes and Persians. Cyrus, incredible as it may seem, managed to break down the "wall" that existed between Medes and Persians. Moreover, it is not for nothing that he is considered the "father of Iran/Persia", since he achieved something that no other could: unify both peoples! In addition to unifying the Medes and Persians under a single government, Cyrus, for the first time in history, had also politically unified Ancient Iran. In the strictest sense of the term, the Persians were originally from PERSIS (Περσίς/Pārsa), which roughly included the current Iranian province of Pars. However, after the foundation of the Achaemenid Empire, "Persia" came to designate not just a specific region, but the ENTIRE Achaemenid Empire. Cyrus was, in my historical analysis, one of the greatest kings and statesmen that ever lived. Cyrus, it is important to point this out, was not exactly a perfect archetype of Plato's "philosopher king" (φιλόσοφος βασιλιάς). Cyrus was, first and foremost, a warrior king. Nevertheless, Cyrus did demonstrate what the Greeks idealized as "wisdom" (Σοφία), "bravery" (ανδρεία) and "courage" (Θάρρος). Furthermore, Cyrus had what the Romans called "COMITAS" (nobility of character), "CLEMENTIA" (kindness), "HVMANITAS" (civility) and "PRVDENTIA" (prudence/wisdom).

I think Cyrus’ time as a Peasant is what really shaped his perspective of the World. And then when he found out he was a Prince, he wanted revenge for those that didn’t just try to kill him as an infant, but he saw how the Rich treated the Poor. This allowed him to become more self aware then any King in his day. This unique perspective in life is what allowed him to stand out.

Most historians believe that Cyrus was a follower of Zoroaster. and Zoroastrianism is particularly tolerant of other religions because all of them are believed to be different manifestations of worshiping Ahura Mazda the creator deity of Zoroastrianism. this might also be a reason why he was ok with other religions.

It seems to me after watching this video, and knowing of Cyrus in general of history I have read and seen in other videos that the title 'Great' is much more deserved than Alexander of Macedon. Granted the ancient world was a brutal place where human atrocities like slavery, mass crucifixions, sieges of cities, etc. were not uncommon. In a world such as this even centuries after Cyrus' death Alexander perpetrated them all and more. He was the ISIS or ISIL of the ancient world. Bend the knee or die like dogs. Cyrus promoted stability through strength and didn't feel the need to conquer the known world for his own personal glory, like Alexander. Cyrus is a leader the world could use today quite frankly with his philosophy towards the hoi polloi.

Cyrus or "Koroush" is one of the best (but the most underrated) person in history. Many historians like Xenophon wrote the way of governance of Cyrus and his dynasty in a book called "Cyropaedia" in the history of the United States, Thomas Jefferson, the third president of US, was very interested in Cyrus and his way of governing and his thoughts. Cyrus wasn't just a king, he grew up among the people and was with the people throughout his life. Maybe that's why many people liked to followed him and defeated the kings of that time with him. The Bible says: Daniel 5:30 In that night was Belshazzar the king of the Chaldeans slain. 31 And Darius the Median took the kingdom, [being] about threescore and two years old. . Daniel 8:3 Then I lifted up mine eyes, and saw, and, behold, there stood before the river a ram which had [two] horns: and the [two] horns [were] high; but one [was] higher than the other, and the higher came up last. . So we see it wasn't Cyrus that took the kingdom after the fall of Babylon, but Darius the Mede, and we see that referred to again in Daniel 8:3 by the second horn being higher - that is, Cyrus the Persian.

What I know about Cyrus, King of Persia, is that he really valued a friend. He owned the best horses and stallions during his reign, and he once said: "I wil not exchange this horse for a kingdom, but I will gladly give it to a friend, should i find someone worthy of that alliance".

Cyrus was truly wise. He was SO proud he was actually humble. He was so greedy he was generous, he cared for a prosperous empire, not for gold in his coffers. But he had it easy, the world was so used to cruel, brutal, greedy conquerors that he looked great by comparison. Lol, as he wanted.

An interesting note about his helping of the Jewish people: He didn't just return us to our lands and build us a temple. He truly believed that Ahura Mazda and Yaweh/Hashem/Elohiem were the same being and so we were each in effect worshiping the same being. I know he treated everyone with respect but there is a bigger connection between specifically my people and those descendants of Cyrus's Persia. I hope I can one day help the followers of Zoroaster reclaim their heritage when they want to to return the favour because, honestly speaking, I would not be here if it wasn't for his work.

I think he is one of the most influential people of all times. When he was, human rights, freedom of choice, and religion were not even know, he revolutionized the ancient world. He was ahead of his time, because only in the last 50 years or so, human rights are again front and center in our world.

You can't compare the philosophical contributions of the ancient Greeeks to the world, to the Persians uncivilized barbaric ruthless contributions based only on slavery and conquests without the freedom of thought.

That famous quote at 11:30 is very similar to one of my fav quotes from abe Lincoln... "Most men can withstand adversity. to test a man's true character, give him power"... We have all seen managers on a job and politicians and anyone in a position of authority get lifted up in pride and arrogance and abuse authority. Power can be corrupting. I have the very same view as you. I started reading, watching, or listening to a lot of history stuff not because I'm interested academically, but because I'm really fascinated with their story which is just more interesting than a lot of fiction these days. oh, and I suggest you check out some history podcast, their presentation is usually in chronological order, which makes it easy to understand, and given that they don't need to prepare any visuals, they usually delve into much more detail than any youtube history channel

@@ahmeddeghady4510 That is deadly wrong. Only Haroon and Mamoon (and to so extent Mansoor) all the Caliphs of the golden age, kept the Persians in high ranks. But even they hated Zoroastrians, cut important trees, and ruined many fire temples. The others were disasters. Zarathustra is and was so important for Iran. Whoever disrespects him will be forgotten with bad names.

It was one of the best videos that i've seen about Cyrus the great 👍 Thank you very much for making this video 🙏 However, i wish you have mentioned other stories or at least the ones that were told by Xenophon and Ctesias too (It's gonna be a long comment but it'll make many things clear) Herodotus story has too many flaws if you look deeply into the story I mean finding out about wine and instantly loving it and getting drunk ? Really ? Herodotus mentioned that he heard other stories too, but wrote the one that he liked the most because he thought it was more epic You know since the ending was similar to the ending of one of those mythical Greek stories (greed and arrogance leading great humans to their demise) and since Herodotus was a Greek, this story is very debatable and has many things wrong with it if you think about it Other Greek or Roman historians never even mentioned Tomyris or her tribe and each one wrote a different story The most famous one, doesn't always mean the most accurate one The most logical story about his death that i've heard up until now, is the one that Ctesias has written Ctesias had his mistakes while writing about Cyrus life but his record of Cyrus death seems way more logical and the fact that he worked at the Achaemeinid royal court kinda increases the accuracy since he could've had access to their history sources He's also written the numbers of casualties on both sides (though probably exaggerated numbers), the name of the king of the rebel Derbices, the number of Cyrus Scythian reinforcements and name of the Scythian king who led them Plus some information about how the battle went According to him, Cyrus fought the Derbices (Iranian tribal people in Hyrcania) and won the battle but died three days later because he was wounded in the middle of that battle That's enough time for his men to reach Pasargadae without his corpse rotting since Derbices territories were in the north of modern day Iran and that Cyrus didn't immediately die and it was way closer than Central Asia Unlike Massagetaes (eastern Iranic nomadic people), who lived in seperate tribes (like Greek city states), they lived in a unified satrapy and had more manpower than a Scythian tribe and even had allies with war elephants from India Meaning, they had the terrain advantage and enough manpower to fight an army of 80,000-100,000 men, specially when living in modern day north of Iran (where i live) These lands are perfect for Guerilla warfares According to Herodotus, the only advantage the Massagetaes had was a river which they let Cyrus army cross it without even harrassing it What kind of wise military commander would do that ? They were in open plains, with no city walls, no fortresses, no trenches, no natural barriers, not even enough manpower and they let the enemy pass their only line of defence How many people lived in ONE nomadic Scythian tribe in 530 BC ? 3,000 ? 4,000 ? Let's say 5,000-10,000 How many of them could fight ? While the Achaemenids are known for their large armies which are estimated between 50,000 to 200,000 They were professional fighters armed with almost any weapon imaginable at the time and were familiar with nomadic fighting styles and battle tactics (they themselves were nomads once) and were being led by the greatest warlord at the time who won every battle he fought against mighty empires or even other Scythian tribes according to other Greco Roman historians The terrain here in the north is great for a local army to defend against a superior invading force And if we take a look at Cyrus conquest map, he'd conquered territories up to Aral sea/lake in central Asia Massagetae territory is shown next to Dahae territories under Aral sea/lake in most of the maps and according to Cyrus map, he conquered that province and there was even a city fortress called Cyropolis near there While there's no evidence of Tomyris existence beside Herodotus few sentences If she had indeed killed him in battle and completely destroyed his army, then why there's no report of her raiding and plundering or even conquering the reach defenseless Achaemeinid territories or Cyrus son, Cambyses, a vengeful cruel man (at least according to Herodotus) campaign against them ? Darius the great mentioned the names of the people who REVOLTED against him, right after he became king, in his inscription, and the Scythians of Central Asia (beyond the jaxartes) were among the rebels (the man in the end of the line) And since the word revolt has been used, we can assume they were already conquered by Cyrus As far as i know, even Alexander's historians didn't say anything about his skeleton's head missing Ali Sami Shirazi also identified the two corpses/skeletons in his tomb as Cyrus and Cassandane's If what Herodotus says it's true, and Massagetaes took Cyrus body and cut his head off, then what are those remains even doing in his tomb ?

There are no historical evidences or findings that could support many of the events his stories. Sadly even in certain academic settings his writings are used as true historical documents.

Wow, what an incredible story about the birth and rise of Cyrus the Great! It's amazing to hear how his grandfather's prophetic dreams ultimately led to Cyrus becoming king and overthrowing the Median Empire. The fact that Harpagus was able to defect to Cyrus' side and use the opportunity to exact revenge on Astyages makes this an even more fascinating tale. And those who overcome will achieve these: (Revelation chapters 2 and 3 "The Letter to the Seven Churches") "He will give the right to eat the fruit of the tree that is in the garden of God" (will enter the coming of the New heaven and earth) "He that overcometh shall NOT suffer the second death" (because now is the cleansing and purifying and making man perfect with His judgment and chastisement to remove from the spirit and disposition of man the corruption attached by Satan) "I will give the hidden food (His Word) from heaven" "I'll give him the note in the morning" (leader on the way to His place) "He that overcometh shall be clothed in white" (will be a priest) "He that overcometh I will make a pillar in the temple of my God" (person within the kingdom) And "the one who overcomes will sit next to me on my throne" (sitting next to and facing Him while listening to His words). 💌 So all He created here is led to the kingdom He brought down "THE CHURCH OF ALMIGHTY GOD" 💐 because the 1,000 year period of this old world is about to be destroyed. So, now the perfecting of man has begun, and what will be perfect will be his last death, because he will be set aside in the Spiritual World. And those who have not yet become perfect will continue to be reborn after they die, while still in the 1,000 year window, but when the time of judgment comes, all will be born again and those who have become perfect will enter the New heaven and earth and the those who have not become perfect will be destroyed together with this old world with Satan and will no longer exist forever. WHEN JEHOVAH SET THE LAW OF THE OLD TESTAMENT IN THE AGE OF LAW, why didn't He then do the work of the AGE OF GRACE? Why didn't He make the work of the Age of Grace clear earlier? Wouldn't it help people accept it? He only prophesied that a baby boy would be born and be powerful, but He did not advance the work of the Age of Grace. GOD'S WORK IN EACH AGE HAS CLEAR BOUNDARIES; HE ONLY DOES THE WORK OF THE PRESENT TIME, AND HE NEVER FULFILLS THE NEXT STAGE WORK IN ADVANCE. ☀️ Only in this way can His work be promoted representing every age. Great video about a one of the greatest rulers ever. Regarding Cyrus' childhood, there is a similar (not the exact same, but similar) childhood story about a Sri Lankan king, Pandukabhaya (reign 437 BC - 367 BC). Interesting how similar stories can be found in different areas of the world.
