2:43 Shared Animosity. Since it's been commented on a few times, I'll clarify... Creatures put on the battlefield tapped and attacking don't benefit from this since this is a (declare) attack trigger but, any creatures that were actually declared as attackers can benefit from an attack trigger like Otharri's putting in creatures tapped and attacking if their types match. The easy example here is you have Otharri, 2 experience counters, and 2 rebel creatures. You attack with all, you have 2 triggers. Shared Animosity and Otharri's triggers, resolve Otharri's trigger first to get 3 tapped and attacking rebels (who won't get the Shared Animosity buff) then resolve Shared Animosity which calculates your number of attacking rebels as 5, so the 2 rebels that were declared as attackers gets +4/+0.

I love my Satya, Aetherflux Genius deck. I love getting to clone a creature every turn for repeat ETBs. I especially love when I get a Sad Robot out and get to clone it several times for its ETB and Dies trigger.

Shared animosity is an attack trigger, and specifically does not work with things entering "tapped and attacking". This is also why attack triggers do not work with Alesha, who Smiles at Death. Coat of arms, on the other hand, is a static ability, and does work.

Isshin is an amazing tapped and attacking commander. So many red and white cards like this that trigger on attack
@pketr523 сағат бұрын
Only downside is that it doesn't trigger attack triggers. Because the creatures entered attacking, those creatures never declared an attack, which meant that (according to MTG rules) those creatures are attacking but never attacked.

Hey man, never got recommended your channel before today but it seems right up my alley. As far as this video it's actually one of my least favorite effects because I hate not being able to control how my creatures get blocked but I do love the times when I can skip around a propaganda. Either way I enjoyed the vid.
@thefruitfan5616Күн бұрын
My only comment after being only a little into the video. Shared animosity wouldnt work right? Since it is a trigger on attack? 2:54 if it said attacking creatures it would right?
@thefruitfan5616Күн бұрын
I guess extra combats does work for othari specifically (just gonna keep responding to myself for engagement, been enjoying your videos)
@Goldscorpio7Күн бұрын
Yeah only the ones attacking on a second combat since it's an as attacks trigger
@Goldscorpio7Күн бұрын
However something funny is if you attack with a rebel and then make 2 more the 2 put in can be a +2/+0 for the first on if you stack the triggers right
@conradbellКүн бұрын
Extra combats are also a bit of an anti synergy due to the rebels being summoning sick for the 2nd combat as they don't have haste
@Goldscorpio721 сағат бұрын
That does suck, but getting more experience counters is usually worth it

I play mostly in Naya colors, and at least 3 of my decks include a little “tapped & attacking”. One of my favorites is Ilharg the Raze Boar, whether in the command zone or in the 99. Currently I’m doing the latter, because dropping a Worldspine Wurm or some such directly into combat is insane. Highly underrated. 🙌

Silent arbiter by far has been my favorite tech card for tapped and attacking triggers. Especially with satya aetherflux genius making him unblockable and create any variant of a creature to attack at any point for etbs, death trigger, damage trigger you name it! While having your opponents have such a lack of combat

I'm not an MTG native, i come from Yu-Gi-Oh... and might i say, boy do i feel home looking at this mechanic. it's giving pendulum summon during the battle phase, it's giving scapegoat but with actual stats, just summon and attack, i love it
@Ms10000123Күн бұрын
Tapped and attacking is great, but it does miss attack triggers on both sides. Shared Animosity doesn't work for the same reason that Ghostly prison doesn't work. Anthems do work, so use those instead.

@therealjeromeo436618 сағат бұрын
That is true for the tokens that are entering tapped and attacking, but for the tokens that are already out (and therefore declared as attackers), the creation of the new ones will help pump that effect since it checks for number of creatures on resolution
@Ms1000012318 сағат бұрын
@@therealjeromeo4366 If there are any that stick around for a round, sure. Plenty of these tokens get exiled or whatever at the end of combat/turn. They usually don't have haste either, so extra combats require extra steps as well. I'd use anthems over attack triggers to boost those token in just about every conceivable scenario.

Caesar, Legion's Emperor. Being Mardu also means having access to a lot of Aristocrats pieces. It's probably my favorite commander, and I've built an aristocrats version, a Warleader's Call/Impact Tremors version, and a tapped-and-attacking version w/ Anim Pakal and Hero of Bladehold.

I use a couple effects like this in my Raffine, Scheming Seer deck. Since her Connive ability counts the number of attacking creatures it makes effects like the Myriad keyword and Adeline, Resplendent Cathar very strong in fueling the looting to stack the graveyard with big expensive creatures that become reanimations targets. Esper-aggro is not a strategy that a lot of players are prepared for, and it's one of my favorite decks to crack out when the gameplay seems stale.

Isshin is also a great commander to abuse this mechanic. Put a lot of "whenever abc attack, put x x/x token attacking"+any lose life/deal damage equal to your creature attacking/you control" Card or any "whenever abc attack, do xyz" Card, tuned up you manabase a bit, some mardu staple card and you got a solid edh deck that can either finish the game quickly/die first after almost kill everyone. N.B: Be aggresive, always aim for combo player first and if you know some of your playgroup have mass boardwipe card, dont be too "trigger-happy" And put everything on the board

You should've mentioned one of the most powerful, Adeline. I play her with a bunch of Dolmen Gate and Reconnaissance-effects, and then buff everything up for a big overrun or striaght up voltron.

I chose Otharri to head my Boros token deck because it can stand 100% on its own. My deck has very little synergy aside from making loads of creatures but it can still take over games by going super wide. It’s a perfect beginner deck that I give to guests at our table

Isshin, Two Heavens as One is the perfect commander if you want to play all of these tapped and attacking effects. A lot of them are attack triggers, so you get to double up with them. Othari is insane in Isshin.

@qarlobrown414619 сағат бұрын
All effects that start with the word "whenever" are triggered abilities. Tokens that are put into play tapped and attacking didn't declare an attack, so they can't trigger those types of triggered abilities. Shared animosity can't buff those tokens when they first enter play for the same reason those tokens get around propaganda's effect. You'd need to replace shared animosity with something like coat of arms, or cathar's crusade in order to buff them the turn they enter tapped and attacking.

sad to see that Gyrus, Waker of Corpses isn't mentioned when tapped and attacking is the theme of the video but it makes sense. Gyrus probably has the fairest or most underwhelming tapped and attacking trigger in the entire game.

So this is the problem with tapped and attacking and you touched on in the video but the creatures are never declared attacking which means you get around your opponents attack triggers like propaganda, but you miss out on you own like shared animosity, or even just any attack triggers one the card you cheated in. Also intangible virtue does have some disynergy as if your tokens come in tapped and attacking they are still tapped if the have viglance (this is more of a bit pick as you never imply that the tokens would be untapped it's just a clarification on a confusing ruling). This is not to disparage these lines of texts they are powerful, it just that they have definat down sides that you not only ignored but some times contradicted
