The Greatest Restoration Project of a Generation |

For some time we've been thinking about creating a video that provides a short introduction to the Wentworth Woodhouse Preservation Trust, and our ambitions for the site that we acquired in 2017.
In this video we look at some of our core strategies and give an overview of the work that we're doing at this magnificent place. We're on a journey that will take us at least another 20 years to complete, but the goals we've set ourselves are worthy of the effort required to achieve them.

I was a student at Lady Mabel College of PE between 1969 - 72 at WW and had the most wonderful 3 years there. It is a joy to see the restoration work taking shape and the re purposing of the facilities, most of which as students living there we took for granted!! I applaud the preservation trust for its vision and the wonderful team of volunteers. How I wished I lived nearer. Keep up the good work.

I’d love to visit this home! One day. I got interested when I read a book on Kick Kennedy, JFK’s sister who was having an affair with the owner of Wentworth Woodhouse. They were both killed in a private plane crash.

I used to live near Wentworth wood house and used to walk through the park every Saturday. My older brother used to go to the dances of the Lady Mable collage. We still visit when we are in Yorkshire. Thanks wentworth wood house.

Was that the book by McTaggart, Lynne (1983), Kathleen Kennedy: Her Life and Times, HarperCollins Publishers Limited? That’s what got me interested in the house.

My great grandfather WN Baines ran a brass foundry down the road in Rotherham. I am sure he would have known the house and attended the annual fetes held in the grounds. Recommend reading Black Diamonds with the story of the family who owned the house.

Yes my great grandma and great grandfather met in service to earl Fitz William. They were there probably there in 1880’s or 90’s. Great grandfather an ostler and great grandma a position in the house. Is there any records that can be searched to find out more?
