I hear a lot of people commenting on St George and how they won 11 straight premierships. It was a different game back then with unlimited tackles enabling a team full of internationals like St George to maintain possession of the ball for long periods of time. That reason as well as the game being seen as becoming boring is why the 4 tackle rule was introduced in 1966. This enabled teams without internationals to be able to attack against teams like St George instead of having to defend for sometimes more than half of the match. What Penrith have done today would have been really difficult for St George to have achieved from 1956 to 1966 with the 5 tackle rule..

Everyone writing the Panthers off. They will be weakened for sure but they won’t be pushovers. Top four for sure and from there, they still have some top line players with big game experience. Melbourne will be a stronger and now more experienced squad and quite rightfully will start 5he year as favourites but the Panthers notching up 5 isn’t out of the question.

They develop players who then have to move on, and that contributes to the league overall in quality. In spite of that, they win Grand Finals each year. Are you serious?. Penrith has lost players that they developed through their system. Due to their success, they have to pay market rates to keep their good players or lose them. The league should be thankful to teams like Penrith even though it disadvantages them.. I can't think of other NRL teams doing it or come even close.

Panthers are Juggernaughts ....but NEVER forget , its a fine line between success & failure ...Penrith did it with sheer force & power against Parramatta & Melbourne ...but their 1st & 3rd victories against a Reynolds led Souths & Bronco's were. lot more precarious and could have gone either way .....as far as i'm concerned Steve Crighton is just as much a part of this 4 in a row as Yeo , Cleary & Luia 🧐🥰🤒
