Well then specify your criteria. Arm talent? Do you mean accuracy? Distance he can throw? What about o-line? Marino was a statue back there. Maybe the amazing o-line gave him an unfair advantage? There are several problems here. 1) Everyone's trying to isolate QB Talent. Jerry Rice caught for 3 QBs none of who went anywhere near any MVP discussion without him. Brady's highest TD total before Moss was 28. He threw 23 to Moss & had 50 so Moss By Himself Added 23 TDs to Brady's totals. Every see a QB elevate a team let alone one WR by 23 TDs? Me neither. I've never seen a QB come in & make as big a difference as WRs have done. 2) Public Perception. Try to watch kzbin.info/www/bejne/a3uyYoOpqtV5lbc & not look at _who_ the 2 QBs are. You tell me who's better: the guy media tells us is or the one launching low-flying missiles that land in his covered receivers' hands with far less effort for those receivers leading to them being able to get more YAC. You can count how often each is off the mark & by how much as well. So one QB is clearly better & has skills that should transfer to the NFL better. But will anyone _admit_ this? (I had One Person try to tell me I was nuts so I asked them to isolate the plays that the Highly-Touted prospect did that were better than ones the other did. Couldn't find any). So we have no one agreeing on what criteria is, no one even *trying to* separate QB talent from WR or any other facet of roster. & I haven't even brought in play-calling. Reid quietly observed & schemed 3 TDs in the last 2 S-Bs. 2 of 'em were game-winners. If Reid doesn't do that, Mahomes becomes known as a choker because *Mahomes doesn't call those plays.* & yet everyone forgets play-calling even before you started reading this sentence. Without Reid Mahomes loses both S-Bs. So how does one calculate the importance of play-calling? The Jags used Ridley wrong, the Bears called plays that doubled their offense then deliberately returned to using ones that halved it & still no one believes this or that they were tanking to have an excuse to move on from Fields. Can you imagine the Jets trying something that doubled Zach Wilson's production then Voluntarily Deciding to return to the previous garbage? Their fans would have taken Hackett & Saleh to the train or bus station before halftime & they'd be lucky if they just left them there. & the Ravens' coaches: "we called RPOs all game & left All Decision-making in Lamar's hands. So everything was His Fault." You mean you didn't observe the Chiefs, didn't watch for tendencies or changes & left Lamar without _ANY help or guidance? That's _your fault_ John Harbaugh. If play-calling were so easy a QB could plan 5 plays ahead while ducking pass-rushers could do it, why doesn't every team force _EVERY_ QB to? & then there's eras. Marino was a stand-out in his era, Rogers was too. Mahomes... sorta. I mean look , the eye-test says he's the best. But you can't separate QB from roster, play-calling etc.& no one's ever gonna ask him to call plays.
