Well, before any power up from Kratos the Blade was able to command reality to Zeus' will. As it was created out of reality such as the Earth, the Sky but also all the rest such as Tartarus and the Seas mixed with Zeus' own blood and power. After the powerup Zeus considered disintegrating Hades with the Blade for being impudent but decided against it, but i dont think Kratos powers played a role here. As for the pantheons.. The Olympian gods were an actual pantheon which controlled nearly everything in its world besides fate itself, which Zeus was still able to evade unlike Odin as seen with the Metis prophecy even tho he couldnt evade the Marked Warrior prophecy. After fear got into him Zeus got irrational and dumber and the GoW 2 Novel showed that. The GoW 1 Novel showed that actually he was very cunning and smart, orchestrating Ares downfall from the shadows, even showing pre-cognition powers. He disguised himself as the Gravedigger so that Hades couldnt occuse him of interfering with his realm etc.. So yeah he wasnt dumb in any way and was portrayed as an extremely wise and calculating Skyfather who rules and navigates through the politics of Mt. Olympus and had a winning streak like no other tbh with the victory against the Titans, then the Gigantes and then Typhon, and before that also avoiding the first prophechy which foretold his overthrow.

I would argue you that he does have more experience than Kratos because. Odin has been fighting wars for centuries and Odin has never lost a battle, or war well except for Ragnarok and plus. In some of the Norse myths is Odin is considered the god of war and the god of wisdom.

With the game already out, I can pretty much say that the Greek Gods were stronger than the Norse Ones. Mimir mentions that the Greeks wielded all different colors of power which showcases just how small the amount of abilities the norse had and the fact that Greek Gods had domains. Remember that in God of War 3, when the Gods died it caused massive effects on the world. One thing that people tend to forget is that when the Evils infected the Greek Gods, it pretty much made them weaker in terms of their mentality. Imagine the Greek Gods actually fighting with a clear mind. And out of all the most powerful beings Kratos ever fought, the Sisters of Fate would be the strongest. Both Mimir and Freya are surprised and shocked to hear the powers of the Sisters of Fate when Kratos tell them. Freya even mentioning that the norns have no power and that not even she knows of any being in the nine realms who wield such power similar to the sisters of fate.

The reason it happened is because Thor struck the World Serpent with so much force that it also splintered the World Tree causing the World Serpent to be sent back before its birth. That situation was accidental compared to the sisters of fate who controled the time and fate of Titans, Gods and all Mortals.

As a matter of fact, of the 3 gorgons, Medusa was only killable because she was mortal and the other 2 were immortal; and the gorgons were not even gods. Much more the immortality of a Greek god. Now the Norse gods I've read that they can actually be killed. Baulder was killed by mistletoe, Thor was killed by Jormengander, even Odin was killed by Fenrir. Now if you mean Norse gods can resurrect then that is not the same as immortality. As I understand it immortality prevents death, you cannot die at all; whereas resurrect means something must actually die first then come back to life later.

No. The Greek Gods weren't dumb. They underestimated Kratos at every turn because Kratos was a "mortal" and thus lower than them. The lost to their pride not because they were dumber. The Olympians were definitely more powerful than the Aesir, they also were more actually attached to the world too magically, I mean nothing bad happens to the world after Magni, Modi, Baldur, Heimdall, Thor and Odin all died, compared to just one God dying in Greece (Poseidon) which destroyed the entire land in a flood, and Helios dying which plunged the world into darkness, and Hera dying which caused all plant life to die and Hermes dying caused a plague of locusts that devoured all food and Hades dying which unleashed the dead upon Greece and it's remaining survivors, and Zeus dying meant the damage done by the death of the other Olympians was irreversible if just one of the gods die in Greece it's an apocalyptic event

I have to say Greek gods are showcased to be stronger , minor says they hold powers way beyond what Norse gods could do any here’s the finishing blow they were able to kill kratos three separate times. Odin in mythology is about knowing everything while Zeus is portrayed to be mighty and easily angered. Comparing Kratos vs Zeus and Kratos vs Odin isn't a good comparison because they are two seperate Kratos one is God Kratos killing all the Gods and the other is a Human Kratos fending of the Norse gods. Odin may have had a rivalry with Zeus, and it would be crazy if the Aesir Gods (and possibly the Celtic Gods, along with Japan and Egypt) learned about what has happened to the Greek pantheons due to Kratos killing them all. Though during the game, Baldur believed Kratos was a Jotun that Odin sensed in Midgard, and made the God of War think they knew he was an outsider. The Aesir had no idea they were going up against the "Bloody Ghost of Sparta!" losing Baldur, Magni and Modi in the process, and by the time they realize none of them came back to life in Valhalla after being killed, and learned who Kratos was, thats probably the reason why Thor shows up in the secret ending to want vengeance for his sons and his brother's death.

Here are my thoughts: Athena's appearance in God of War (2018) was not a cameo. It was the calm before the storm. She will definitely play a major role in Ragnarök. She's as deceitful as Zeus himself, or even worse. At the end of God of War III, it became evident that she merely used Kratos as a pawn in her own game. Kratos knew well what he was doing. He knew that Athena was not his ally. It was an alliance of convenience at most. That's why he released the power of hope to the world by stabbing himself with the Blade of Olympus. Cory Barlog said that in the God of War universe, all pantheons co-existed and were merely separated by geography. Since Kratos was able to enter the Norse pantheon and stir it up with his powers, it might also be possible that the hope he released reached Scandinavia and all the other pantheons respectively. I believe Athena's appearance in the current instalment was a foreshadowing for what's coming. Perhaps, the power of hope will be the most effective weapon to prevent Ragnarök...

At least Zeus, Poseidon, Hades and Ares are more powerful (especially in terms of powers and magic) than any norse god. Odin and Freya may be comparable to them in terms of variety and diversity of powers, and Thor is definitely comparable, if not stronger, to the strongest Greek gods in terms of physical strength, BUT that’s about it. No Norse god could defeat the 4 strongest Greek gods, and we also could make a case for Athena.

From Ragnarok and 4 I feel like the Norse Gods are on a whole nother league from the Greek one. Ares, Zeus, etc...legitimately seriously try to kill Kratos only to fail miserably and for Kratos to emerge victorious and barely scratched. Meanwhile literally EVERY major Aesir we've fought manages to bring a MUCH stronger Kratos to near death in the first couple of warm-up rounds lol.

Kratos died 3 times. The first one he was literally brought back by Zeus. Ares needed SECONDS to kill Kratos back in GoW 1. Zeus and other Greek gods don’t need weapons made by others or steal magic from giants or other gods, they use their natural raw powers they were born with and weapons they forge themselves. They can even turn other people into gods, create pocket dimensions, fly without shapeshift, create portals, have control under the underworld and death, telekinesis, telepathy etc… they were BORN with those powers, Odin had to learn things like that through stealing magic, and Thor needs magic weapons. The GREEK gods are on another level. The death of a single one of them causes a catastrophe worse than the fimbulwinter by itself. Just look at Poseidon’s death.

Baldur doesn't use any weapons and he knocked out WS with ease Odin and his brothers beat Ymir with their own power Odin simply finished him off using Gungnir Thor casually manhandles a holding back Kratos and blows him away with single punches or a clap without using Mjolnir(also lmfao at greek gods not using weapons at all) Thor is stronger than giants where fodder giants like thamur can crush and kill Kratos under his palm and perma-freeze a massive landmass with just his dying breath Thor also killed Kratos possibly on *ACCIDENT-- where he overestimated Kratos and put slightly more power into his blow(still absolutely nowhere near as much power as he used on WS...the same World Serpent who tanked it like it was nothing). That second bit is utterly fodder to Thor who damaged a multiversal lattice beyond time and space with a slightly stronger than normal hammer blow and no greek god has ever cast a spell anywhere even remotely close to being as impressive as Freya's curse on Baldr. And name a single event in GOW 1-3 where the death of a single god marked AND more importantly specifically BEGAN the end of all creation and covered the whole world in snow in a blanket of snow. Then we can start to talk about "greek gods are on another league"

Poseidon’s death caused massive destructive waves which affected the oceans in the entire Greece, instantly killing many people. That by itself is worse than the fimbulwinter. Fimbulwinter just affected Midgard, the other realms didn’t feel nearly nothing at all, just a few tremors here and there and… they became a bit more humid? Wow. And you are literally forgetting about the Titans, which Zeus once shoted with the Blade of Olympus (which he forged by himself without help and which is astronomically superior to any Norse weapon. Zeus can clap anyone with ir) Greek gods are capable of turning whoever they want into olympian gods, which are technically imortal and can only die through other divine weapons or gods. That alone is more impressive than Freya’s spell, which has unwanted side effects out of her control. Aquiles’ has a better spell honestly. Ares finished Kratos off while he was miles away, in a few seconds, like he was nothing. Thor needed to actually fight off Kratos, take several blows and bleed to knock Kratos down a weaker and slower version of kratos. Amd you basically just confirmed what I think. All Thor has against any Greek god is physical strength. Other than that the major Greek gods are far more superior than him in any other aspect. Odin as well, he may have many different spells as much as the Greek gods have many different powers, but he had to steal magic from the giants and the Vanir, and still the Greek gods are vastly more destructive than him. So yeah in a fair fight they get clapped.

Yeah i generally get the idea Norse gods are smarter or atleast Odin and is powerfull because of the mind and deciet or trickery. While the greek gods is obviously more powerfull than Norse gods if it would be in a straight up fight with powers and weapons. For example in greek mythology, there is not statement of gods dying or bleeding and not able to be poisioned. While The norse gods can bleed out to death and some like Thor die from poisoining.

It could be argued that the Greek gods are stronger physically, but 1) The Norse Gods outnumber the Greek Gods 2) The Norse Gods are much smarter than the Greek Gods And I believe these two points make the Greek Gods less powerful than the Norse Gods.
