I think hope being left in the jar means if hope had gotten out he might have been able to reverse everything that was released from the jar. Isn't it funny that everyone wants to blame woman for the state of everything that fall on the Earth. Every great sculpture does a model first before the finished products. Man was made first so woman had to come to fix everything that is wrong with man. Which is why men cannot live alone he needs someone to help him get his life together and so the woman is the helper. Just my thoughts though.

It's a metaphor, that exemplify a conundrum When Pandora released the box, her concern was on the evil spirts, rather than awaiting for Elpis to reveal her precence on earth. In sealing it's contents, humanity must suffer in order to find hope without divine intervention...

Shout, let it all out, don't hold it all in. Your the jar sowing the wind holding onto things.

No initial hope for mankind or Hope gets released later to save mankind. Hope was the only good thing in the jar, so perhaps that was the cause for separation. Hope was preserved.

That humans were mortal and not titans, so hope was elusive to them, maybe? Humans had to rely on the titans/ gods for hope to be dolled out as a gift/ reward, maybe?
