Hi all Anastasia here, I wanted to thank you all for the constructive feedback and comments! I really like this discussion. I just wanted to make a tiny clarification from my side : we definitely need more songs that have a very strong cultural identity and impact because it does create a more diverse environment that I personally think I can learn a lot from! Art should cause a reaction and bring out different emotions and in my case it triggered something very intense and painful since navigating grief and loss for me is something very difficult!(this is how I interpreted the song) With this in mind I didn’t want undermine its quality I actually really like it.( the connection that I made of the song and presentation reminding me of important aspects of Ancient Greek tragedies which brings out cultural similarities should hint my appreciation, sorry for not making that part clear) happy to discuss further if you would like

Magic, hypnotic, powerful, different, bewitching, love lullaby. Blanca Paloma is LOVE for Europe. Thank you❤

I absoluetly love this song and the visuals of this music video. It evokes so much emotion and familiarity for me as well (since I'm also Greek). The performance was out of this world of course, and this music video really showed a different side to what this song can visually bring too, which I really liked. I understand the polarity this song bring out of people, but for me, there is no equation for what is a Eurovision song or not. The reason I follow Eurovision is to discover new music from different countries (whether they are ethic or not) and this did exactly that. Thank you Blanca Paloma for introducing us to this art, and thank you guys for a great review and reaction! Φιλάκια!

Lo bonito de la canción es que es de libre interpretación,así que todo lo que os sugiera y os haga sentir es válido. No hay que entenderla , hay que sentirla.

Thanks for the reaction! Have you watch the video with the subtitles on? I dont think the song is so sad because its about love, nobody is dead in the lyrics, the song is about maternal love beyond death, she is singing that kind of "flamenco" lullaby to a little baby, the way her grandmother sang to her. Of course its very different from the catchy pop songs, but sometimes is ok to take a risk and show other kind of genres. It doesn meant they have to like to all the people, but its a show, its art.. lets try it! :) Thanks guys!

All Eurovision songs must be happy? And what about Salvador Sobral? All Eurovision songs must be generic Anglo-Saxon pop? And what about Serbia "In Corpore Sano"? There are already many foreigners who think that Blanca Paloma's song is necessary in Eurovision. If all the songs were Anglo-Saxon pop, it would be festival suicide. Even Loreen loves Blanca Paloma. If we want an international festival, to be followed by millions of people around the world, it is necessary for the festival to be an authentic mosaic of cultures and not a tacky one with the monopoly of a single cultural influence. A festival where everyone does the same to ensure the audience's vote is boring.
@Kostis_ESC Жыл бұрын
Noone said that. You've obviously haven't seen other reactions of ours where we react to non Anglo pop and we love them. Anastasia spoke about something personal of hers and she's obviously not ready to watch something that it reminds it to her.

I agree so much with you that I got the feeling that Blanca Paloma might be opening a new path on ESC where other countries would be willing to show strong songs but just not pop, easy listening songs, but more sort of embedded in their own ethnic roots… or I wish it would happen 😅

To me this video is a masterpiece! I adore this song, but it took me a while. I had to read the lyrics to understand it all. I want all shades of feeling in Eurovision, I want quality and not just fun. I agree with the beautiful man who, like me, misses his grandma' and appreciate this the most of the three sweet people here ;) Grief is very hard for me as well, I don't deal well, but the song gives me hope. Hope that my grandma' in some way or another is there with me. That she sees me, always. And that I will see my children when my day has come. It makes me cry, but that's the pain of life and love. Spain is in my top 3.

I think that what's great with eurovision is that the songs are different. You can't be bored if you have balades, pop, artistic... songs mixed up in the show.

For each person a song has different meanings. I like the visuals from the video. I'm Spanish, not andalusian, so flamenco is not specially my roots but probably I can understand it better than someone from North Europe. What I like from this song is the mix between flamenco and modern beat and of course her voice, she can sing with passion and as well with sensibility.

Blanca Paloma takes a traditional Spanish lullaby to the top. A meaning that everything exists, that nothing dies as long as you believe in it, the moon is the refuge of all those who are no longer there, and the moon is the refuge of all those who are no longer there.

Hi Anastasia, she is actually dedicating this sing to her grandmuther so yeah, it definetly talks about death and family, I get your feeling about not feeling good about it. Any way is a "happy" song (for me anyway), like, remembering the good times and loving from that people we've lost.

It's the first truly spanish entry we've sent in in years, and definitely the most artistic and transcending ever, even if I myself am not a fan of this genre of music, being from the north. Just for you info, the song it's not about death in fact it is a luluby to calm babies like hush hush when they can't sleep. The lyrics are inspired on the poems of Federico García Lorca. Thanks for you comments

If her performance was blowing away this production of the official vídeoclip was out this world. That intimate moments with those candles , symbolism still in there , Poesy of a famous writer Lorca. Romance. Power and Passion. Inconditional Love. It could like more or less, but its evident what Its undoubtable the quality of voice and performance are brilliant. Then if you get into there, It brings you back to personal moments lived by anyone in their families and its amazing cause she express that feelings devoted by her grandmother and how we take also in common. Produccion of the camara and angles. Cauptivating, feel betwiched, and attract you for a while, and when all is gone. Its like awake of such a pleasure dream. I LOVE It, her. 🌹😍❤️🇪🇦

Looks like very few taked the idea of the video, and I don't talk about our host. Of course, you should know the Lorca's work and world to understand the video, but it's shows how bad it's the school here, what a pity. Blanca started as a scenocrahper in theatre, so for sure she's well connected with Lorca's plays and she used some of them for the images of this video: for example, when she was sit with other women and she was the only one to started to move and the first to left the chair, it's La Casa de Bernarda Alba (Bernarda Alba's House), the play about a women family where the daugthers were traped in the mother's house bc the tradition rules that the female members of the family must to mourning this way "only" eigth years! And the youngest one challenge the tradition and rules bc she's in love with her oldest sister's fiance. Other image easy to catch it's when she is dressed as a bride: Bodas de Sangre (Weeding of Blood), another tragedy, about a forced marriage. This two are the most known of his plays, but we can find more. With it, I want to explain that she's not only honoured her grandmother's legacy (she was the one that teached her to sing), it's also a way to honoured Lorca, who also promoted the flamenco and other musical traditions with the composer (and his piano teacher) Manuel de Falla.
