Katie - thank you for your podcasts! I discovered them recently. I love to see your making and drawing. I think its great that you bring the authenticity of making to your podcast - that it takes time, that we often work on many projects at the same time. Love the musical and outdoor interludes. I am loving the cushion cover! And I am all about no deadlines for projects - deadlines only make things (and you) miserable. I will continue to look forward to future installments.

Thank you so much Alison - I'm so glad you are enjoying the podcasts, and your words are so reassuring. I was worried when I started making these videos that people would find my slow pace boring, so it's lovely to hear your feedback to the contrary. Thank you for watching!

Thank you for such a thoughtful and lovely podcast! I love the way you describe your projects as you're working on them - it feel like you've invited me into the most peaceful knitting group I've ever encountered. Also I love learning so much about drawing! My sister loves to draw, but I know so little about it, and learning from you gives me many ideas for gifts or ways to encourage her drawing practice.

I am catching up on your wonderful podcasts and it was lovely to hear you say about Rowan Pure Breeds yarn as I was exactly the same in that after years of knitting thanks to Rowan I realised that there were breeds of sheep and different qualities to the wool that I had never understood before. Wool was wool up until then.

I just found your video podcast and am really enjoying it! I started with the first and working my way to the present. I love that you are documenting your creative process. I am also an artist, knitter and sewer. I love your attitude to mix things up to keep things fresh. I just ordered 6 copies of your book and am keeping one and sharing the rest with family. Thank you for your courage to put this together. I am a solitary person, as I can see you are as well, but cannot image getting in front of a camera.

Another wonderfully calming episode. I'd never seen drawing board like that. It was nice to watch you draw I wish the segment had been longer. I always feel calm and quiet after watching one of your podcasts. Such a breath of fresh air. Do some vlogs on your trip so you can show us what it's like to be a writer!

Thank you Susan! I wish the drawing segment had been longer too, but I realised the camera had been quite out of focus so I didn't want to let it linger too long. I will pay more attention next time! I'm not sure I'm a vlogger, but I'll try and share something of my trip to Poland :)

Congratulations on the Polish translation! It sounds like a very exciting trip. I love the vest. I wish I knew how to crochet, but I will look for a nice summer too to knit up in that yarn. I live in the US southeast region and heavy wools don't get much use down here. That yarns could probably work 3 seasons here.
@KatieGreenBean6 жыл бұрын
Honestly, I can't recommend that yarn highly enough! When I first started working at Blacker it was the one I was least interest in, now it's the one I buy most of! Just so wearable, and I love being able to make knitwear (or crochetwear) for seasons other than winter :)

Thank you for sharing everything! Working white on black looks very beautiful. But am I right when I think there is no room for errors? Or can you mask them somehow? And how are you making colour (red at the bird) on this? Your shawl is looking so comfortly already, it must be lovely to work on it. Greetings out of Holland. 🌷

What kind of felt do you use on your pillow pattern? Is it wool felt?
@KatieGreenBean6 жыл бұрын
Hello! Yes, I use pure wool felt - not only because I love wool and like top keep things natural, but because I find it has a better structure. Acrylic felt tends to stretch out of shape more easily, so I find wool felt easier to work with.

I heard someone say about a project they had completed, that after it had been washed and blocked, it became what the tag said it was...even though, while knitting, she was sure it was NOT what it was tagged.
@KatieGreenBean6 жыл бұрын
That is so interesting! Now I've washed and blocked this shawl it definitely has wonderful drape, which suggests Bluefaced Leicester, though I'm still not convinced it's 100%. Nonetheless it's lovely, and a piece that's much better suited to the yarn than my cardigan was!
@jennywren23956 жыл бұрын
Your comment about your Uist wool skirt being school uniform like made me think that really is that a bad thing. I took it to mean very plain in style/material and I thought well isn't that OK, it is about the fabric. Isn't it also about what you wear it with; IE the interesting knitwear, the complete outfit? If it does need to be shorter, then go for it, you won't waste the leftovers, I'm sure you'll use it in some other project, maybe part of another cushion cover or other project.
