just took this ride yesterday. they changed the port a bit now its more open and airy. decent food too in the restaurant. nice ride downt he river get to see the new bridges they are putting up

I spent a fair bit of my trip on that ferry outside. Nice breeze and a little river spray. It's not really designed for passengers to go outdoors, limited space.

Compared to that death trap i almost died on in Cambodia in 2005 the ferry looks safe and nice.

Thx, a very timely video for us as we are currently enjoying some travel downtime in Vung Tau but looking at the options to get to HCMC as our next destination. Having travelled by all the means available in Vietnam, its Bus transport on the highway that scares us the most - you have to experience the traffic to appreciate. The ferry looks like a safe and comfortable alternative.

i didn't plan it this way, but i took the shuttle-van 'to' vung tau, and the ferry home to saigon. van is faster, cheaper.. but as you mentioned.. there's less to run into on the ocean. :)
