Glad someone else said this so I didn't have to be the first to "umm actually" hah .Not sure if he was just padding out the video run time or if he missed the shop owners stuff and basically the whole point of the Mr. Futterman character in the movie, but they do try to give gremlin lore for people not familiar with the myth, and it feels like he wasted time to make that point. And yes, I know it's just a funny review, so doesn't ruin my enjoyment or anything just seemed like an odd direction, when that time could have been used to explain the myth with scenes in the movie.

@davidjames2659 but at most is a blink it and you'll miss it. I for one really don't remember this being said in the movie tho

The reason why the Gremlins are so clever when it comes to tampering with technology is a call back to where the name Gremlin comes from. It's an old term used in WWII propaganda, a manifestation of what happens if you don't take care of your equipment. Something like "Double check your plane before take off to make sure Gremlins didn't mess with it." Dick Millers character, Mr. Fudderman, makes a reference to it early on in the film.

The fun fact about the second movie is that it was meant to be a full on satirical take on the first one. It is a full on self aware parady of itself. That's why it's so insanely over the top. The director knew it was all a a cash grab and he specifically wanted to do the most ridiculous out of pocket meta stuff he could, because he could get away with it. It's actually an awesome story. I always wondered when I was younger why it was so different in tone from the first one, and when I found all of that out, it made so much more sense and even makes it a little better to me. 😂

Made a few errors & misleads in this one, Elvis. 1.) Billy & his family didn't suspect the other mogwais at all but thought it was Mrs. Deagle who had Barney strung up by the Christmas lights, due to her previous threats. They bring this up very actively during that set of scenes. 2.) Gizmo wasn't hurt by the sun after escaping the antique store due to it being an overcast day and he was in a fairly shadowed alleyway. 3.) Billy went on the dinner date with his boss Marla because not only was she using her power over him to manipulate him into it (even though he didn't want to), she also picked up on something being in the drawer (which we know was Gizmo) and Billy didn't want her looking into it further for fear of Gizmo being discovered. 4.) The guy you keep calling Casper is actually named Forrester. Casper is a random scientist in the Splice of Life labs for one scene and played by the Gremlins 2 screenwriter.

I love how the first movie is balanced between horror and comedy and I'm cool with it, although I do have some issues when it comes to the second movie of how it become too much of the comedy and less of the horror, but at least it still better than "Seed of Chucky"

Initially Joe Dante didn't want to make a sequel, in his opinion _Gremlins_ didn't need one. So the studio decided to look for other directors and writers, but when nothing worked out they returned to Dante. This time he agreed on the condition that he'd get triple the budget and complete creative control. He then, fully on purpose, made a parody on _Gremlins_ and sequels in general. Just to spite the suits. It's become a bit of a trope since then. Like remember _The Matrix Resurrections_ from a couple of years ago? That's totally the _Gremlins 2_ of the franchise.

My headcannon are Mogwai are naturally chaotic and destructive. Gizmo is an odd one, either by naturally being born nice (like how a creature can randomly be born albino) or it is because the store owner slowly raised him to be nice. Mogwai don't seem to age or have a long life so there was plenty of time to train him. So, when he makes more they are all set to be their default version which is the chaotic version.
