The lack of special effects and the true to life plot set this film off perfectly. Liam Neeson was PERFECT for the part. Hands down the best actor in the true to life action genre! He is a top notch actor, if not the best actor out of all the genres! Give this man an damn academy award for crying out loud! This film was EPIC and touched upon all the human emotions, while still keeping a literal path. Once more into the fray. Into the last good fight I'll ever know. Live and die on this day.

By far one of the best movies that I have ever seen. Rarely these days can I honestly say that. Liam Neeson was pin-point on his character and the other supporting actors seems to be pretty much seemless with their roles. I feel that this movie will, of course, be overlooked for any awards due to the bias and simple minded narrow eyes of most critics. I agree with you there steelcurtain41286........PERFECT !!!!!

I meant with the respect that the films,and this one, have the underlying message of being trapped in a situation with no way out but to fight.

watched this a few years ago when i was a kid and then rewatched it again 3-4 years ago. i was TERRIFIED. TEERRIFFIED and i don't know how i had the mental strength to rewatch it. now i'm starstruck by liam, and i'm too scared to watch the movie again...,. dont remember whether he died or not,. that would be very hard to see

It's greenscreen ,they use a green screen for special effects ,bluescreen is a windows shutdown error thingy.But I totally agree with you ,it feels real when you see the actors shaking ,I was watching the movie a few days ago ,in my room ,I live in the city ,and it's the middle of summer ,it was hotter than the sun outside ,yet while watching the movie I felt cold.

Believe it or not ,the movie reminded me of The Walking Dead ,the comic book(not like the show) ,it's the exact same feeling of rooting for a bunch of EXTREMELY WELL WRITTEN characters who are trying to survive against a brutal bunch of animals ,a force of nature if you will ,if you liked The grey ,try Kirkman's TWD comics ,you will get the same thrill.I'm sorry for the long parallel.On topic now ,I want to say that Liam earned the respect of another few generations (again) ,through this movie.

I hope movies keep getting made in this way and it's not just "let's bluescreen it" because The Grey would have lost a great deal of its effectiveness if it had been shot in a studio.

I think he got the Lucas disease - nobody challenges him, loss of creative collaborators, love affair with CGI. It's all too easy. I think he still has it in him.

Better ,Castaway was a story of self discovery ,a story where one had to find the will to survive in himself ,this better since you got to see social interactions in a group where survival didn't depend on one's will alone but on everyone sticking together....or maybe it was just about wolves :D

Imagine if George Lucas, James Cameron, Michael Bay, or Roland Emmerich had directed The Grey. Greenscreen, on a studio set, paper snow fliying everywhere, actors sweating under the hot lights. And terrible dialogue as well.

on par with tom hanks in castaway, if not better.
@squamish424412 жыл бұрын
My point was that Cameron has taken to CGI'ing everything in his films, just like the other three directors. The plot has been seen a million times (Dances with Wolves? Pocohontas? Ferngully?) with the white hero coming to save the natives. And the dialogue was cheesy and predictable. This is not the James Cameron of T1 and T2.

OK acting...story plot great, but not gory enough..they did not portray the concept of terror and natures indifference to humanities soul completly. I love movies of people being trapped and out of control movies though. This movie goes in the same catagory as The Thing, The Mist and Dead Calm.
