If you _can_ wait a little longer it might be worth waiting for the VALVe headset. IDK about the price though. But I would just wildly speculate here that it'll cost 400-500$

I have the rift and it is amazing. The lower rez doesn't bother me one bit, we got to start somewhere. Just make sure you have a pretty good pc with a good graphics card at least a 1060 and it is well worth it! Cheers and have fun.

Kev G. I was considering a rift, but there are some benefits of a quest that seem nice, I have a GTX 1050 OC and I overclocked it even further so it could run some games, plus I’m not sure my room could have good rift setup or Vive. I’ve used a rift and the low res doesn’t bother me either so I’ll consider it if it goes down even further or if I find a used one

Hi correct me as i could be wrong here but isn't deep focus just another term for foviated focus or foviation? I was under the impression that this could be done fully in software no need to actually move the lens. I thaught this was going to be the next big thing in the next divx, as you said its not just motion blur but having just the focal spot in sharp focus would take a hell of a lot of load off the resources. Eye tracking isnt new and im sure its not a depth of field focus like an slr camera lens so i must be missing somthing i'm almost positive it can all be done by software no need for what id assume is going to be expensive mechanics to move plains. Like i said i could be wrong but im fairly positive im not. Feel free to tell me to bugger off if i am wrong.

Foviated focus can be done in software only, if you've played 'The Gallery - Call of Starseed' you would have experienced just that. The thing to remember is that because the lenses of the headset are a fixed distance from your eyeballs, even when the focus in game changes, you are still looking at a screen that hasn't moved closer or further from your eyeball, and so your eye is still technically focusing on the exact same distance the whole time. This results in eye fatigue. The Half Dome prototype has physically moving screens, that in combination with eye tracking and the Deep Focus software allows the Half Dome headset to do what it does, which is let your eyes physically focus on varying depths as the screens moves back and forth. So essentially, foviated focus is a component of the Deep Focus system, as is varifocal displays and eye tracking. Which all results in a complete experience, in this case labelled 'Half Dome'.

I was struck pretty hard by cancer which pretty much stopped my life to keep the brain moving i have set out on a project to build a race simulator (cars atm) so i really only know what ive read. The project comes out of stage one next week right now its 3 dof motion which i built myself and running trip 27s as im really waiting for the next oculas first. So excited on where vr is going i only have a gear atm but as soon as we can reliably hit 90fps at a decent res bring it on. The only downside for my sim with vr is pass through im sure you will get used to where all the buttons are but if there was a way to inset my current wheel and button box into a game vr would rock at first it could be done like a layer in photoshop but i think the market is way to small for the devs to look at. I guess ill start learning game coding on those days im stuck in bed. I really love your vids mate they are part of my looking forward to list. If i get some coin ill support your chanel.
