You can find this footage all over KZbin , but this is the only version that includes the incredible call that you’ll never hear again. The cadence, and rising voice as Jrs ball leaves is amazing. Then they argue about it like a true father and son should.

I was here at this game! Huge Angels fan here! This was one of the few games that really sticks out in my memory. And it just so happened to be a Mariners moment! LOL! My childhood memory recalls that the Griffeys hit back to back home runs two separate times in that game on back to back at-bats, making 4 home runs. However, watching the full game today on an ESPN Classics that aired on Fathers Day, 2001 (the 60th anniversary of the Joe Louis vs Billy Conn boxing match, June 18, 1941, as advertised on commercials), I noticed that my memory was incorrect. The Griffeys hit back to back home runs only once, in the first inning. However, Dave Winfield of the Angels did hit 2 home runs in the game, at back to back at-bats (3rd and 7th innings). This may have contributed to my confusion, as I was 12 years old at the time. The Angels won, 7 - 5, making an astonishing 5 points in the 3rd inning alone! My family had season tickets every year for Angels and Dodgers games, so we sat in the same seats every time. It was on field level, near 3rd base, above Angels dugout, about 8 rows up, directly on the end of the isle to the left of us. My dad's cousin was Dick Hirschfield Williams, manager of the Angels from 1974-76. He managed and played on several teams in his baseball career, but he's infamously known as the worst Angels manager ever, having been fired in 1976 after a player revolt against his authoritarian managing style. Regardless, within those few years, my family became close friends with the players and coaches, and we were often invited into more private areas for the team before or after games. This is how we first got free season tickets, which lasted through the 1990s at least. I left for the Army in 1996, so those were my last games, but I'm sure my little sister continued going to games. I knew all the Angels players, coaches, other managers and owner Gene Autry personally. I got tons of official baseball gear, like balls, bats, gloves, old uniforms and more, all the time. I would go to the front edge of the isle up against the fence leading to the field beside the Angels dugout near 3rd base before the game and talk to the players. Other kids that would stand there in the hopes of getting autographs were amazed that I knew the players, but they doubted me until the players would quickly come up to me and call me by name and talk to me. It was a lot of fun. There's quite a few perks when family members are involved in professional athletics. Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with the team anymore and haven't been to an Angels game since 1996. Good memories though.

I grew up close to Anaheim Stadium in the early 90’s. The team kinda stunk but it was always great to go to games because no matter where my seats were I can usually get down on the 1st or 3rd baseline by the 6-7th innings without the ushers asking to see my seat tickets. So I got to see some of my favorite players from other teams up close. Frank Thomas, Griffey, McGwire and Hendo. Good times.

Amazing athletic family, had Jr. played for the Yanks he would probably be remembered as the GOAT, had he just juiced (like everyone else in that era) he would be the GOAT. He missed out on a about 2-3 seasons due to injuries which cost him 100+ home runs. Still an amazing talent and one of the greatest of all time.

His son needs to play at least 1 year of college (that's the new rule) no one can come out of high school anymore but I'm sure lebum will cry an cry an cry to silver and tell him to change the rule for 1 year. Now with that being said the Lakers would have to suck to get a top 5 pick to get the kid. Personally I don't think he is that good.
