Hi Achillefs, always cool to see fellow iRacers on their journey and see them improve. I've analyzed your miracle lap and there is still time to be found. - Exit of T1, you put the left side of the car on the curb. You can take a lot more curb here increasing your radius. Bigger radius means being able to take more speed through the corner and on exit. - You lift going up the hill in T3. You can do this flat out and go a little bit more over the curb giving you more exit speed onto the straight. - After the hairpin you short shift into second losing you time (delta goes from -0.10 to -0.05 and keeps falling). After you've clipped your apex you can just accelerate out and take a little bit more exit curb if you need to. - Going up the hill you keep on the inside of the exit curb. You can almost completely position your car here, putting your right wheels on the exit curb without getting an off track. Bigger radius = more speed on apex and exit. - After the hill going down you place your car on the right curb. You don’t have to do this, the corner is easy flat from the middle. Increasing the radius here without taking advantage of the speed this gives means extra meters without extra pace. This means you lose time here. - After the long right hander you can position the car with the right wheels on the red exit curb. Bigger radius...well you get the point by now - After the downhill hairpin you position your car on the exit curb. Use this reference for the above where I mention you can take a bigger radius. Getting as good or better as Max Verstappen does not mean you have to do 1000 laps. It means you have to make every lap count. Be critical of yourself, watch your laps from multiple camera views. Check where you leave track space on the table (most time can be found here) then focus on technique. Suellio Almeida has made a complete course just to check where you can find extra time in certain phases of your driving skills development. I would highly recommend it if you want to make your laps count. Furthermore, look into tools like garage61 with which you can compare your telemetry with 1000 of other iRacers from all different skill categories. See where you can brake later etc. Hope to see you on track, preferably in my rear view mirrors ;)

Wow. You are awesome! Thanks for all your tips dude!! I immediately went to the sim to try them out! I tried not to lift on T3 and it’s REALLY tricky, but is actually possible..! I will work on that for sure. As for the kerbs, I will try and open up my line as much as possible. However, some curbs (like on the exit of the uphill right-hand turn) are really bumpy and slippery, so I intentionally avoid them. Sometimes I do use these kerbs but very rarely would see any drop in lap time (if anything it might be slowing me down…). I will try and see maybe I am approaching the kerbs wrong….maybe… You’re also right about reducing the meters when going downhill on the (easy flat) left turn. My thought process was to open up my line to not kill any speed. But it seems like I gain more time by just using a shorter line!! I will do my best to try and correct my mistakes and I’m looking forward to encountering you online soon (Let’s see how long you can keep me behind you😝).

@@Achillefsgiannisis Regarding the curbs, use active reset for this. Just keep mashing the reset button and repeat until you get comfortable with the curbs and then focus on hotlapping again.

It was a flow state. I've had laps like this sometimes. Suddenly you just read the car perfectly and everything you do just goes perfectly every corner. You know beforehand what the car is going to do and you don't do any unnecessary inputs. I had this in league race weekend's qualifying in Interlagos. Was 7th out of over 30 drivers. I lost the pole by 5-7,5 tenths I think. Doesn't sound that impressive but mostly people are 1-1,5 seconds away from the aliens.
@AchillefsgiannisisАй бұрын
Exactly that! We gotta reach a point where this "flow state" is our default (or at least that's what I'm aiming to do). Also, congrats on your Qualy results! Anything under a second from "alien" lap times is considered super fast, in my book.

I had something similar happen to me once, in ACC on Barcelona - I was lapping consistent 1:47-1:48 laps and then suddenly, outta nowhere, I dropped a 1:46.9 and I haven't even scraped close to a 1:47.0 since. No idea what I did differently!

What pedals are you using?
@AchillefsgiannisisАй бұрын
I should do a video going over my entire setup. But in a nutshell, I'm currently working with the Fanatec CSL Pedals (With the extra Load cell Brake pedal) & the Fanatec CSL DD Wheelbase (8NM). NOTE: The Load cell pedal was too stiff and I didn't feel like it captured the feeling you would get from a real car (at least not the ones I have tested)...so I did a modification to make the pedal just a little bit softer. Now it has a bit more travel. I didn't lose or gain any lap time from this modification. I solely did it to make it feel more realistic!!
@notdreadyet33Ай бұрын
@Achillefsgiannisis Thank you, I get what you mean. I've got the Fanatec Clubsport pedals and put in the stiffest brake kit add-on. Now it feels very close to an open wheel car, but it becomes a literal pain in GT or road cars where you need to max the pedal for extended periods.

Without using static conditions you will not be able to make informed changes. The differences between just a bit humidity or wind can be massive in time.
@AchillefsgiannisisАй бұрын
I very recently realized that the weather conditions change from Session to session. You are 100% correct!
@1xRacerАй бұрын
@Achillefsgiannisis it's unfortunately likely this is where a lot of your lap time came here 😢
@rubenbonga9415Ай бұрын
The conditions won’t change that much with the new weather generator. You have a odd session in there once in a while. But for sure if you practice like this you need static weather to really have a consistent base to improve. Also don’t forget that the tires the first few laps will have peak performance. I would say just driving won’t really improve much unless you also start looking at your own laps and see if you can improve. Look at the chase cam to see your linens and then also look at your brake trace.
@Shakman007Ай бұрын
When I look at the delta, I think you have put more emphasis on the exit speed.
@AchillefsgiannisisАй бұрын
You are correct! I t would seem that's where most of the lap time is.
@Shakman007Ай бұрын
@ have you tried changing brake bias during the lap for specific corners ? Instead of keeping it fixed for the whole lap?
@AchillefsgiannisisАй бұрын
@@Shakman007 Not really...I have thought about it, but until I figure out EXACTLY what I'm doing right and wrong (with my driving) I don't want to overcomplicate the process. Once I sort everything out and am searching for my next few tenths, I will try it out!!
@teddyruxpin3811Ай бұрын
Just hire a coach for 1 hour and you'll learn more of your driving mistakes than if you were to continue doing 1,000 laps every day alone. Sometimes it takes a second person looking at your driving to notice things. Even Max Verstappen has a coach. Also, practice on other cars. It will make you faster on all cars. Go back to the mx5 every now and then too because it will make holes in your fundamental skills more apparent.
@AchillefsgiannisisАй бұрын
That would be more effective. But, for now, I enjoy the search for more lap time. I also do this series for documentation. To see how long it would “roughly” take to reach the top (is it possible?).
@misty7726Ай бұрын
Nice video. Changing BB will not affect anything unless you are on the limit. Also please stop shortshifting you are losing so much time.
@AchillefsgiannisisАй бұрын
Thanks! I’m haven’t noticed any difference, whether I short shift or not…but at this point I will try everything😂
@MlgfutterАй бұрын
You and you're bb xD Brake bias is not that impactful if you really want to see a huge improvement in a short time you have to optimize you're setup or just drive more
@AchillefsgiannisisАй бұрын
I'll have to disagree with you on this one. BB makes a HUGE difference on car behavior. I can definitely feel the handling of the car change, based on how much negative or positive BB I put. But my "problem" is that (at this point) I don't know how to utilize it to it's fullest potential. In regards to other setup changes, the same is true. If I don't drive properly, my lap time will never improve. I have done countless laps even before starting this series and have noticed the same pattern. This is just my opinion based on my experiences though. Feel free to disagree. There are no hard feelings ;) By the way, I can't make any other changes in the setup (even if I wanted to). I'm using the EXACT same setup that a PRO sim racer is using, when I accidently joined the same server as him (it was a fixed setup series). So, if I want to be fair and reach his lap time, I need to stay true to the challenge setup. I can only change the BB.
