I absolutely love the way this author does descriptions such as "minutes that crawl by like maggots." An excellent way to establish the mood and setting even before anything truly scary happens. A beautifully grotesque story. Thanks for sharing.

Curiously this story is known in Spanish as The vampire's laughter. I always have believed it was about a vampire, omg, it was a ghoul, why did they change the title? Thanks for your wonderful version, Ian, a great story with a great narrator

Robert Bloch is underrated. He does get some recognition, but is sometimes considered a bit of a hack. He's one of the best second-tier weird/horror writers though. The reason for this placement is that he writes well-crafted stories, but that they simply aren't very original.

a short story previously unpublished By HP Lovecraft Found in the Sydney archaeological department From the city of Aylya d Laying in the ambient heat half dazed in a Looking out of me bed not pay attention but aware of the clock that seemed to read 8.80 though I could not tell what side of midnight or noon....... I riled sleep for the memory of the rotten shoul was hysterical addictive yet horrible in its carnality, great Cthulhu great In size yet seeming oblivious to those denZins of that City city of rotten death, blackwater of a place as seeming inconceivable mix that challenged the mind of dark mucky sludge of darkened blood, ripped and contorted objects from what prior owners trudged on and fought over whatever rotten edibles left, dust from the decaying destroyed builds that appear as Abaddon has ordered it so. The great Cthulhu clashs though gigantic crawling chaos smashing all asunder. The city of it seems semitic in nature is awash with blood death rot despair mania debauchery and stench for it seems hundreds of miles in all directions this goes. Cthulhu great In his might tears though the streets crushing destroying all in his path it seems to reach place halve buried just a wall with a temple upon top of the mounds that bury it. A great call so powerful its deafening clarion and unearthly sound of something not of a terrestrial nature reverberated from the great Cthulhu that seemed to go on for I could not say, a stillness but awareness seems of suddenly yet a shock form whatever perceived it reeled as if the air itself was a consciousness and it replies with a Shrek so shrill and surprised it's fear and shear terror was aware to all for as far as the eye could have seen, The Cthulhu with the greatest speed of any reflex the mind can register seems either to glide and yet still displace of the mix around him smashed his great fist into the mounds of the temple and wall with such force a blast shattered all in a sudden moments that I could not tell if but with one blow or many, a terrible cry of something beyond anything of this world rang out as a sudden light flash manifested from the strike and with was a figure of what seemed a man in a shroud of yellow and a crown that I could only describe as a masked depiction from hell that Upon it's top dawn it's crown of insidious and vile design. The man or whatever it truly was has been struck as by a killing blow was bleeding out a mix tendrils of splattering and splitting black foul rotten blood And then Light I awaken with my city home in the light And in my mind I hear the words Taman Shud It's finished Short story By ...........
