I absolutely love the musical I was lucky enough to see it 3 times in London, the music, set and puppetry was incredible and the cast were amazing... Louis Maskell voice incredible. I’m so pleased the Bristol old vic decided to stream the Bristol version, it was great to see how it evolved. I’ve been tempted to read the book.

I have just watched the Grinning Man with my mum, it was a beautiful musical, down to the amazing cast, puppetry, make up effects, storyline and music, it made me laugh in places and cry also, my mum thought it was too deep but for me it is just as good as Phantom, it has definitely left a impact on me, thanks for recommending me to watch it! 😊

In addition to the 1928 film, there is the 1966 Italian adaptation, which is a version that bears little resemblance to the novel, the French series of 1971 (without subtitles) which is the most similar adaptation to the book and the 2012 version. I've just finished watching the show, it was great! 😍 Thanks for pointing it out to us! Because of your earlier review on The Grinning Man I watched the black-and-white movie and I also got the French 2012 version - I didn't understand most of the dialogues, but it was ok.😁 Oh and I own the musical score for quite some time - also because of your video.🙈 The influencer thing definitely worked in my case.😂 However, the novel is still on my Amazon shopping list. When I was a teenager and already obsessed with the Beauty and the Beast topos I read The Hunchback of Notre Dame from cover to cover and I liked it so I might as well give the grinning man a try. Maybe using your reading technique... 😉

Thank you very much for the recommendation. The show was great, it made me laugh and get misty eyed at points. I was wondering, now that you're able to see the full show would you do a reaction or another, maybe smaller review now that you have the context and everything that you cannot always get from a cast recording? I was wondering if you were ever going to hot uptbe Frank Wildhorn version of The Man Who Laughs from Korea? It's legitimately good, especially the House of Lords scene with The Man Laughs Who being the highlight. Lots of clips are on KZbin! Definitely worth checking out!
