Thanks for this! For my part, though I learned to keep my hands apart (as i suppose most learned to do), these days I bring my left hand to my right. When I started doing that I found my do strike became (slowly!) stronger, faster and more effective.

That's one of many trouble i found using extremely long handle like the shinai compare to the tsuka of a katana, you simply can't maintain the grip or both arm straight if you cut from left to right all the way through. With the shorter katana tsuka, it's easier although i always stop the sword at center line anyway for tsuki or tsuba zerai

Well my problem was only in a left kesa, my wrist did noise after i did a horizontal block, i don't remember the name of the block sorry and the stuka of my sword is a little smaller than the shinai one. I have two swords, one is a chinese taiji sword from the time i teached kung fu and the others are samurai kind of swords. I am trying to practice both swordmanships, if is possible. I hope you are fine sensei...
