Actually, all of the footage of them in the early days in a warehouse studio singing and recording was at their warehouse in Newport Beach at 1599 Superior Ave. You can see the back parking lot area at 1:40 and you can match it up on Google Maps. They rented one of the warehouses in the back and converted it into their living and recording space. This is where they had the school bus that they painted and toured in. There are some live music videos of them in this studio. This warehouse was where they recorded all of the early songs including greatest shits and all the couples that they released on CDs in hand-painted and stenciled CD sleeves.

Such a huge part of my teens to early 20’s listening to the growlers. I remember going to their gigs in Sydney for “Chinese fountain” tour and then “city club”. The crowd change was so noticeable, the latter being rich people and models mixed with “beach goths”. At the time I felt depressed that they changed and kicked out Scott, he was such a unique drummer, and I absolutely hated the new drummer. Now, looking back I’m grateful for the music they put out and the memories I have listening to them. I hope they make enough money and that Brooks is the provider now!

Discovered them a year ago. Became a listener and then a fan. Only to find they were broken up. Fortunately I get to enjoy all of it right away and often. Unfortunately they are not together. Fortunately Brooks still sings and as often is the case the lead singer appears to be the soul and vibe of the band. Unfortunately I dont know enough to know for sure. Fortunately I am going to see him at the Hollywood Palladium with an all Growlers show and his new album is good. Kind of feeling the Sid Barrett solo stuff and for sure see the Morrison influence long before I dug into the bio here. Regardless Brooks keeps the Growlers alive and I am sure they will end up being The Growlers again. Such an original sound. If you like them you might want to check out Shana Cleveland and the Sandcastles and also her band La Luz. Let me know if you agree.

i was told by fans and guess Basically they got blamed by a lesbian singer for getting a male stripper because of their starting band. Personally, I think she was just looking for attention because her band isn’t that good. Idk 🤷♀️ I’d laugh at any stripper someone got me even a old one. Also when you’re in a rock n roll band this kind of stuff happens. You don’t go home and read the Bible every night. Brooks posted on his Instagram taking the full responsibility for wrong actions and some people think his wife encouraged him to take charge whilst Matt doesn’t think it’s a big deal and doesn’t think an apology is needed for something so dumb. Kyle is in the middle (my guess) but Kyle also isn’t on Brook’s solo tour. Also Kyle posts a lot of instagram content with Matt. Brooks is on a solo tour and he is still very good live but his band doesn’t have the growlers twang like the O.G band. Brook’s vocals are still godly but it sucks not hearing things quite the same. Matt was supposed to be on a temporary leave but he doesn’t have any indication of returning and removed the growlers website from his instagram page. If they all were single and young they would probably still be together but it’s kinda like John and Paul from the Beatles. Both went their own ways one with Linda and the other with Yoko. Brooks played a new song at a show I went to so my guess is that there will probably be a second solo album. Only time will tell what happens. I really wish they had a documentary on the band explaining everything. I know Scott left the band because he liked that old Growler’s sound like the Doors and after Chinese Fountain they kinda changed direction with City Club. Brooks always wanted to work on different styles. Stonio left the band to work on his own band Catsigns. Maybe old Growlers might do something together . But I think it’s going to be like John and Paul where John did his thing and Paul did his own thing.

Brooks just released a second “ep” I would call it because it’s only 3 songs, but looks like he’s gonna be solo now, I would too with having a family to focus on and already have had the fame and fun he’s probably tired of all the bullsh*t and wants to live his life on his terms and create music whenever he wants / go on tour when he wants, I just missed the tour he’s currently on he just left my state I wish I would have went tickets were pretty cheap I’m sure they’ll go up in time with more albums
