Brooks is such a deep lyricist. He’s criminally underrated for how good he is at writing lyrics. Shits incredible.
@frailty72807 ай бұрын
their bassist at the time, Anthony Braun Perry is also absolutely fantastic. Growlers have always had great bass players before and since but i think Anthony is a big reason they had such a golden age in 2012-13. Even in these garage recordings with a six man band that bass still pops.

I remember first hearing the growlers when I was 15. For the longest time this was my favorite song. Coming from Orange county and living 30min away from Newport or Huntington beach, a stoner and experimenting heavily with acid at the time. This song spoke to me on so many levels. Idk man the growlers captured something magical man. The orange county and l.a music was flourishing so much with that psych/garage/surf work movement that was going on from 2012-2017. It was like the 60's man. All the acid and free shows going othe time. I'd love to talk about with anyone in the replies:)
@emergencyexit11202 жыл бұрын
Also found the growlers when I was 15ish, just way too late unfortunately. Super jealous that I missed that new golden age of the surf, psych and garage scene in LA, but at least I have the songs as relics to covet.

I felt you man it was dope on the rope that started me off when I was 16. I lived in wildwood right on the coast of jersey and this song really spoke to me it made me buy the exact guitar Matt Taylor is using a 2016 Gibson Les Paul studio and it made me wanna play guitar more this era for the growlers really got me through hard times and I love them for it. But makes every note count. Which in my heart felt opinion truly makes a good guitarist. Idc what kind of lightning speed someone can play at. You gotta make that amp speak for your soul, which is a hard thing to find nowadays. Anyone hating on the growlers new stuff just needs to realize bands grow and tune into different sounds, so why not just grow with the band?
