The quickest Bill Pullman cameo in movie history. Audience: "Hey! It's Bill Pullman! I know him from ID4 and Spaceballs! He's aweso..." SPLAT! LOL! Speaking of Bill Pullman, Aria, you should put "Sleepless in Seattle" and "While You Were Sleeping" on your to-watch list. Great comedies! 😉

"I just want her to leave me alone!" Fun Fact: The open-mouth gasping sound of the ghosts was made by director Takashi Shimizu. How I Met Your Mother Fact: Jason Behr met KaDee Strickland on the set of the film and both began dating due to their interest in Japanese culture. They eventually married two years later. Movie Magic Fact: While filming the infamous shower scene, Sarah Michelle Gellar discovered she was allergic to Japanese water, as it caused her skin to itch. So as to properly film the scene safely, Gellar was dressed in black hefty garbage bags from the waist down and in a little tube top. Cultural Respect Fact: Before filming, the cast and crew went through a ceremony where they were blessed so that nothing bad could happen to them for filming. Although the house was built entirely on a sound stage, the actors and cast still had to take off their shoes to enter, to be respectful. Casting Notes Fact: Ted Raimi, who plays Alex, is the younger brother of Sam Raimi, one of the film's producers. Yuya Ozeki, Takako Fuji, and Takashi Matsuyama all appeared in Ju-on: The Grudge (2002) and Ju-On: The Grudge 2 (2003), the Japanese films upon which this film was based, all reprising their roles as the doomed Saeki family.

Buffy fact: Sarah Michelle Gellar's co-stars in the film, Clea Duvall and Jason Behr, previously guest-starred on her hit TV show, "Buffy The Vampire Slayer". Clea was in "Out Of Mind, Out Of Sight" (ep 1x11) and Jason was in "Lie To Me" (ep 2x7).

It’s always a blessing when classic actors can reprise their roles. And it a blessing a successful EASTERN franchise even agrees to work with Hollywood in the first place. I’m glad they let Takashi Shimizu re direct for the American version..

FINALLY!!! THANK YOU!!! you're the first one that watched the unrated version (director's cut). Other youtuber watch the pg 13 version the most and didn't understand the whole plot. The lore is who ever enters the house is mark death and can die anytime. The main reason is that the husband though that kayako (mother) is having an affair and thinking that toshi (the boy) is not his son so he decided to kill them. I'm not japanese, the hospital scene, the cops were talking about can't find Susan anywhere and they were the first family that move in every since three years ago. The last scene, they were saying how did the girl (Karen) survived and they save the house.

"Is there a part 2?" you ask? Just one of the best horror movies ever made, honey. LORD, is there a part 2.
@tomswift34823 ай бұрын
This is a 2004 remake of a 2002 film - Ju-on The Grudge - which was directed by the same person, but this one had a different writer, and changes were made so that it would be easier for American audiences to follow the story - original was seen as too complex, mainly owing to how the story was told. The original, although it was more stream of consciousness in its telling, was far more mysterious to follow, but ultimately gave a better background story, explaining the tale, more fully by movies end. It was also more frightening The movies also have differences, owing to different scripts. The white faced boy you mention, who was the boy in the house, was the poster boy for the original movie, and is likely what you saw. At 18:25, yes you are right - The grudge - basically the emotions are held by the house, so anyone whom enters, is subject to its affect. The original is better, as in the case of Ringu being better than the American remake - The Ring. There are a few Japanese horror films that have been remade, and "streamlined" for American audiences - but remain less than their originals. Pulse (2001), One Missed Call (2003) are personal favorites, along with Ju-on, and Ringu.

As I mentioned to one of the posters here, sometimes on streaming services, they forget to add proper video subtitle tracks to international versions of a film that have non native speaking characters. "The Grudge" is one such example. There are no burned-in subtitles for movies and shows that get a world-wide release for home video or streaming, so each country can add their own. In order to get the subtitles for foreign languages you often have to manually turn on the subtitles in the app settings. The problem is that EVERYTHING becomes subtitled, not just for the foreign languages because those are subs for the deaf and hearing-impaired. That's one reason why I like Blu-ray and 4k Blu-ray discs rather than streaming, if I can get them.

I enjoyed your reaction to this, Aria. Although I must say that I am not a big fan of this movie. There are some good scary and creepy scenes. Susan being pursued by the curse from her work to her apartment, and the surveillance footage tape are genuinely frightening. That being said, this movie just feels empty to me. Sometimes a particular streaming site will not include the correct forced video subtitles if they are using an international version of the film that won't have burned-in English subtitles for someone speaking a foreign language. That's why physical Blu-ray and 4k Blu-ray media is best, besides the superior AV quality.
