5:14 that's actually a pretty interesting theory, Jacob is insanely resilient, he gets stabbed, burnt, slashed and even falls from like 200 foot skyscraper and crashed through a vent, landing unharmed, and mere minutes later he takes another fall free fall that should've killed him, but his leg gets caught in a cable right before he hits the ground, which at the very least if not kill him dislocate or rip off his leg entirely. He also is pretty strong, shown when he, despite just being a pilot manged to kill like three prisoners with nothing but his speed and a crowbar, he can even knock back Ferris, who is strong enough to crush skulls with his bare hands, with a whack from his baton. Id really like to see if maybe they do something like that in the dlc or sequel

@@RoanokeGaming yeah maybe. Though I wish they'd also explain what's the difference between the Europa Strain and the Callisto Strain, Europa acts like a plague and just kills you, meanwhile Callisto Mutates, and how these two versions of Biophage are different from the Leviathan Parasites, and better yet how they keep getting more of them. Are there other Leviathans? We see that Biophage do appear to eat, since a favorite if theirs is to bite off your face or head and swallow it whole, so do they eventually starve? The Blind grew skinny and encased themselves in cacoons to conserve energy till they find prey again, do they just evolve again to not need food or enter hibernation till food comes around?

Another possibility: Jacob could simply have certain genetic markers that allow the pathogen to thrive. Everyone reacts differently to a pathogen to some extent. Take for example myself. I've only had a particularly high fever once. I even recall the exact reading, 103.4 Fahrenheit. I can deal with most anything except the common cold, allergies (including a mild milk one), migraines, joints, and the rare 24- or 48-bug. Jacob may have a type of immune response that still retains normal function, but also allows the pathogen to do its thing. All of this experimentation to find a new breed of mankind to colonize space should have ideally stopped with him. But if I had to be honest about all those things that happened, Jacob was saved by the most powerful armor in history, 'Adaplotium'. (Not to be confused with Adamantium.)

Roanoke. School biology and especially sex ed was terribly lacking. Even when I was in school not 5 years ago my high really just glossed over biology as there was more "important" things for us to learn being just what is the present curriculum. The idea of accelerated limb growth is intriguing. One thing to consider would be the resource and energy demand on the body. I saw a short where a guy gives one super power to someone and it brought up that while they gave him instant regeneration, that left him in a coma while his body crashed since it took all the resources at one time. We would have to figure out a way to either externally provide the body with what it needs or also find the section of DNA that switches that capability on/off as needed. In a way, I could see the first few attempts resulting in a Deadpool type body as every cell is constant trying to repair over and over non-stop...

Wait, so Roanoke, if ALL the genes were activated all at once in every cell, wouldn’t that cause those infected to become super tumors with everything expressed leading to masses of bone, muscle, gut, nerve, eye, etc tissue? With each cell line being responsible for different responsibilities for the new organism. Or on the contrary, just a mass of dedifferentiated cells, though this option doesn’t make as much sense. Also I may have missed it in this video, but how do the infected know to not attack fellow infected with all of their brain damage, worsening vision, and hyper aggression?

They stated in-game that a weaker version of the disease was released on Europa to test it and nobody turned into zombies there, they just gurgled and freaked out a bit before dropping dead. (The guy who rushes you in the prologue before you find your sister and take your mask off wasn’t turned he was just suffering and panicked) It might be that some parasite exposure is needed for someone to become infected (like how Bubonic plague needed a vector to spread and wasn’t automatically infectious unless in its Pneumonic form) as Danni had been exposed on two different colonies and didn’t become infected until she got attacked by the parasite, which was itself very very brief, likely why she took longer to start turning even before suppressants were administered.

I don't know if it's a British vs American thing or a vet vs human thing, but I've always heard vagus pronounced vay-gus not vah-gus. I had a lot of British professors so that happens alot (the way they say aluminium is wild). Also, your heart doesn't necessarily need your brain to keep working, at least short term. It has its own pacemakers and if the heart isn't getting a signal they will eventually fire to keep blood moving. The rate becomes MUCH slower (a dog goes from 90-140 bpm down to 20-40 bpm if only the ventricular pacemaker is working) which isn't conducive to high energy activities, like running for your life, but for just being a pet they can do okay for a while. I generally assume human bodies are usually similar for things like that but I don't work with humans, they're gross.

Interesting concept here. Did you ever hear about the hypothesis that the cell that is infected by a virus is in fact the true virus. Does that mean in a way it makes a lot of sense especially when you consider stuff about lichen. So instead of the new virus infected cell being infected the virus infected cell becomes the actual virus. I don't know it was an interesting hypothesis and I don't remember all the details about it but it was definitely one of the ones that made me really just stop and go that makes entirely too much sense

I'm sure there's already a thousand comments of this already, but I'd like to point out that Stegosaurus didn't actually have two brains. It's a common misconception, and initial paleontologists only thought they had two brains due to how small the brain in its head was.

Roanoke. This sounds alot like the Protomolecule from the Expanse. You should cover that. It's such an interesting thing from a biological stand point with what it does to the human body

Children up to age 2 have been documented with the ability to regrow finger tips. Stem cells in the nail bed are still active at that age and even bone loss can get recovered if the nail bed remains partially intact. Humans are still very cool just being humans.

I know this may not be the video to ask this on, but a good small game to look at is Organ Trail; A small zombie game that doesn't have much lore, but with the past zombie games/movies covered, I'm thinking maybe you could try and add lore there. Sorry if this isn't the video or place to request stuff, I just love the game since it's small and fun, and I still wonder how the infection works even with the simplicity.

not sure where to request things, but i was rewatching the riddick films and realised, much to my dismay, youve never done one on the creatures from it. i think it would be a good idea but not so sure about demonitisation.
