I was attending university in 2000. I met a singer in my Cosmology class, whose band was playing that night, opening for Nevermore and Mercyful Fate, when King Diamond rejoined the band. It was the first time I heard Nevermore. They blew Fate off the stage. Fate sounded horrible that night. My friend and I left the show early After I left the show I headed to Toronto's (now defunct) Sam The Record Man, a cultural/musical landmark in Toronto. As I was selecting their CD's Dead Heart in a Dead World and Dreaming Neon Black. I heard someone say "You're going to like those". It was Jeff. We chatted for a bit. Cool guy.I blasted Beyond Within many times on the subway rides to and from University.

Amazing man. Back in the day, I bought a 7-string because of Morbid Angel, Carcass and Nevermore's Dead Heart. I still use my 7-string frequently. Jeff is a phenomenal guitar player. Being able to play Megadeth at just 16 years old...Nevermore did the right thing, and I will definitely support them.

Best timing. I was just relistening to Dead Heart, Enemies, and Godless Endeavor on a long car ride home to hype myself up more over the return. The tone (even on Enemies tbh), riffs, and phrasing are so nasty good on those albums. Chunky, massive, stank-face inducing.

I was at the Festival in California where Billy Milano decked Warrel. I was disappointed that Nevermore canceled their performance but I had heard his nose was in bad shape which is not good for singing. Drinking was just the start for that man. He loved to be messed up. I was at a Nevermore show at the Knitting Factory in Hollywood and he was having bizarre interactions with some thing he saw up in the rafters. There was nothing there. He could still sing and handle his shit at the time but that was to be short lived. Thankfully they got Andy to mix Enemies Of Reality after the first release. One of my favorite vocalists, I do like some cheese on my metal it keeps it out of the mundane for me. Another great video-thank you.

@@CIRCLEOFTONE mmm this explains why I hated that abrasive tone...I thought it was some kind of g12-h30 or v30 even tho I later discoved that it came out 2 years later. On the classic Candlemass albums is the g12-30 with a Folkesson modded Plexi...same kind of abrasive tone but more tolerable, probably because of the production.

wish they wouldnt reform under nevermore. without warrel it will never be and it smells like a cashgrab. why not a new band with a new singer without the limitations or expectations an already existing bandname brings

Honestly IMO Darrel crashed and burned the band in the first place. They were patient much like Pantera were with Phil but had enough in the end.

Without his lyrics it would be weird, a bit like Skyclad without Martyn Walkyer...
@ralis17 күн бұрын
Is it a cash grab or just practical business? Loomis was half of Nevermore, now all of Nevermore. Yes it is hard to replace a member like Warrel lyrically and vocally, but not impossible. If they start under a new band name they have nothing. If they reform Nevermore they have a proven track record of music and performance sales that equal instant Distribution and festival bookings and a tour if they want all with monetary guarantees to cover expenses and possibly sell some merch so that they can eat and pay rent. There is an upside for the fans, we get to see and hear Loomis and company create new music as well as Classic Nevermore tracks. With the Name behind the group that can likely happen without it unfortunately it is much less likely and they know that. Nevermore was never a pop mainstream act pulling crazy cash. Rap and RnB acts doing country music is Cash Grab. Never more is not Kiss, they will be lucky to eke out a living if they work very hard.
