I missed my chance to buy this amazing, and affordable METAL guitar when it was new! Can you believe they were selling these for $249 NEW?? Crazy. Anyway, I finally found one on the used market and grabbed it. Now let's unbox this and plug it in and listen to how it sounds. Will it live up to the hype?

For me, the guitar that got away was a used Luke III in green with a rosewood neck at a steal of a price. Passing on it did allow me to buy a couple of rare dream guitars of mine instead (Iguana burst Les Paul Custom and 7 String Les Paul Classic) However, that Music Man haunts me to this day to this day lol. PS. Thanks for accidentally sending thousands of viewers to my channel when you did the video on the Floyd Rose FRX. I had made a whole bunch of videos on the FRX years ago and after you put yours up my viewership spiked exponentially. I can't say with 100% certainty it was you but the timing seemed to line up. I guess if people choose to watch me alongside your high quality content, that's motivation enough drag myself out of KZbin "retirement" once I have a plan of action lol. Thanks!

The one guitar I regret not buying was the Ibanez Reb Beach signature that was out in the early 90s with the cutout behind the Floyd Rose. When I had the money for it, it was gone. The music store wasn't getting anymore in after that.

I have a similar regret. I am too young to have got an Ibanez RBM when they came out but I do regret not snapping a few of them up in the early 2000s when they were not worth much. I got an RBM2 then for only $1000 CAD! A couple of years ago I finally got the cheaper RBM1 and it cost me $500 more than the RBM2 did. You could get those for half of that 20 years ago! Now its hard even finding a koa one these days even if you are prepared to spend $4k+ on one 🤯

I had that guitar in jewel blue and certainly regret selling it...what I regret even more is selling my reverse headstock ESP Mirage in see through hunter green. That said, I'm just like Max in that I love the look of reverse headstocks and prefer it over standard, so I wound up selling the Reb for another guitar with one. I'd always wished that I could could've had what I considered the best of both worlds, though: a reverse headstock Reb! Thankfully, there are a few parts shops out there that make aftermarket Reb bodies that are compatible with any AANJ Ibanez neck so, as long as you're okay with it having 24 frets instead of 22, you can design and build a Reb to your liking at a fraction of what it'd cost to buy an absurdly inflated original today! 🤘😎

Glad you found the one that "almost" got away. I've had that happen to me with a couple of "Made Exclusively For" or "Limited Edition" guitars. As a matter of fact, I just discovered there's a "Limited Edition Made Exclusively for" guitar (that is right at $ 1,000, so not in exactly what I'd call inexpensive category) I'm hoping to be able to grab before the end of the promotion. I'm glad this turned out to be what you were hoping it would be. Thanks for another great unboxing of your latest find and video, Max. Please keep them coming.

The only time I had one "get away" was when I was shopping for my very first guitar. In the early 90s there was a competing music shop to GC here in town and on their front display they had (what I believe now) was a discolored Ibanez RG of some sort. It was neon orange but the color had been burnt off because it was on the front display where direct sunlight was constantly hitting it, so the sticker with the price was the only area that was not discolored. But I didn't care, it looked cool, it had the HSH configuration. Pretty sure it had a Floyd or derivative of. It was on sale for like $250-ish because of the ruined paint. I was with my older brother and we contacted my mom who was gonna give me the money to buy it but she wouldn't have for another week. The guy in the store said it would likely still be here since it has been in the store for a couple years. We return a week later with half the money since were gonna put it on layaway, and it was gone. It had sold a couple days earlier.

I have NEVER found a Jackson that didn't punch well above its price. I used to have a JS32 Kelly with a Floyd Rose. Turns out that the Floyd was more trouble than I needed for the way I play, so I sold it but I should consider grabbing one without. It was a great fucking instrument that just didn't quite fit my needs. Thing was fucking incredible though and I'd always recommend the JS22 or JS32 series to amy level of player. Beginner? Go for it and be happy as fuck with the bang for your buck. Touring/gigging player who wants something reliable and solid sounding without risking your expensive axes on the road? You'll be delighted. For the latter I'd say replacing the stock tuners is something you should consider, but that's literally it.

Congrats! I have to say I agree, the JS32 are very good for the price IMO. Fit, finish, stability, playability. No issues with the Jackson branded FR so far, hopefully they will last several years or more, but these guitars are worth the upgrade IMO. I have several JS32 / JS32T, only Warrior and Rhoads. I found a new CDX22 Rhoads Concorde in Snow White, 22 frets and strat style trem which was one I wanted for years, and didn't get when they were released. Also got a WRX24 (next series up from the JS32) Warrior, maple fretboard, neck thru, Ferrari red, standard headstock. There's a white model with reverse headstock. I prefer the standard headstock over the reverse. I'd like to see Jackson offer more color options in the JS32 series Warriors, I have snow white, Ferrari red, black gloss with white bevels, satin finishes don't wear well IME... I'd like a slime green or metallic purple Warrior.

Back when Jeff Loomis was still with Schecter, he released a 6 string version of his 7 string pro model. I have his pro model 7 in vampire red satin and wanted to buy a matching 6 string. With me being cheap, I passed on the opportunity. When he made the switch to Jackson, I did a used search for his Schecter 6 and found something unique. It was called the Schecter Hades 6. I did some searching and found that it was supposed to be a prototype of his next pro model, but he left Schecter before it could make it into production. Without hesitation, I bought it and was rewarded with a unique instrument whose features mirror both his Schecter and Jackson pro models.

I love it when I find goodies in the flapper inside the case when I buy a guitar. Given the preference I have for archtops there's always a good chance that there'll be a vintage box of Gibson strings under the flap. I like that guitar you've bought. I had a flying V in the 80s that had a Strat style headstock. Cost me $260 in a pawn shop, and came in a custom hard case, not the easy copout rectangular case. If I buy a guitar and it comes in a rectangular case, I give the case away to whoever wants it. I played a white Epiphone Sheraton at a guitar store in the capital city in 1997 I think it was. It was the only one I've ever seen in Australia. But my hard, stingy missus was with me and she told the salesman that we couldn't afford it. I couldn't get his attention to tell him I did wanna buy it in the worst way, because my old lady was all over the situation to make sure she could prevent me from getting it. I tried sneaking back a week later on my own, but it was gone by then. Fast forward 20 years and I started to notice them come up occasionally on Ebay, but I was always out-bid by someone who had a program whereby he could always win the auctions. So I got myself that program and out-bid him!! Now I own nine white Epiphone Sheratons. Some of them are a bit rough, but I'm still glad I got 'em!

That happened to me for this Jackson soloist guitar that I'd seen for sale on the internet!!!! It was an import model made in Indonesia!!!! SLXT was the model!!!! I liked the guitar because it had two humbucker pickups and it had a tune o matic bridge with strings thru the body design!!!! NO Whammy bar!!!! 😄 Is what I prefer to play on or hardtail bridges!!!! Red or black!!!!I😄 I was ready to order on line but something came up with my truck!!!! My truck needed a repair!!!! That set me back like $1000!!!! So I put off buying the Jackson guitar from the Retailer (Pro Audio Star)!!!! When I finally came up with enough money 💰 to buy the Jackson guitar , the retailer had completely sold out their inventory!!!!!😔😞😔😞 They had other inexpensive Jackson soloist guitars for sale but they had Floyd Rose whammy bars!!!! I wanted a soloist without a whammy!!!! It's just my preference!!!! Plus with the extra wood I think the guitar might be better for sustaining power chords!!!! Sound wise!!!! Oh well!!!! That's my story!!!!😄😊🙂😀😋 That's is a killer looking Randy Rhoads guitar you got Max!!!!👍👍👍👍👍 Take it easy!!!!🙂

I at first had an issue with reverse headstocks. That was something which interfered at first with my interest in a manufacturer local to where I grew up, Brian Moore (which later became iGuitar). All their guitars and basses essentially feature a reversal of the Ernie Ball headstock. When I finally got one in December 2002, I realized I kind of liked it. My experience with the one that got away was when I was just learning to play in 1985 and saving up for my first electric. My instrument retailer had a preowned Stratocaster with black finish, white guard and maple fingerboard hanging in his work area. He would have sold it to me right then, only it needed some attention and I hadn’t raised all the money he was going to charge. By the time I had, its place had been taken by another Stratocaster like it but with a rosewood fingerboard. That was the one I bought, although I pined for the other one.

Now that is one shred machine. The maple neck and fretboard with the black inlays is a great contrast to the body and headstock.

I love explorers ( have two). And roughly 17 years ago my GF at the time and I went into a music store in her city. They had a Gibson blacked out gothic explorer with EMG's on sale for $1100 Canadian. Which was a really good deal at the time even for that price. I seriously debated it and my girl even said just buy it, but I wasn't playing in a band at the time and just couldn't justify buying a 4th guitar. Not really a "budget" guitar but now to get a USED one they are going for $2600-3,000 Canadian. Definitely one I always regretted not pulling the trigger on.

Hey Max, great video. Yes it has happened to me when Kramer released the Assault. Same color as your Jackson. I saw it on line for $359. Didn't buy it. Then I wanted it and couldn't find one for quite a while. Finally found one on Reverb for $279. I bought it, had it shipped and when I got it, it still had the plastic on the pickups and rear covers. It is as nice as any guitar I have.

I bought one of the last Jackson JS-32 Ziricote from MF about 8 months ago for $200 bucks. I swapped the stock pickups for a set of Seymour Duncan Nazgul/Sentient and it's now a killer piece.

OH MAN, I can identify with this. That Rhodes model is gorgeous. Two that got away from me are the black Fender hollowbody Jaguar with white binding, and the red, see-through, short-scale Squire Jaguar bass. I drooled over them back then, and I should have bought them new, because their prices have gone through the roof.

I feel the exact same way with the Rhoads Minion blueburst. I saw it all the time, and I liked how small it was, and I always told myself I'll get it soon. But then they were no where to be found. Now I'm sad.

Freaking awesome! I just got a new (Jackson JS32 Snow White Warrior) from Sweetwater for US 369.99 + 10% off sale! Jackson can't make them fast enough so I had to reserve one that took like 2 months but then my Sweetwater Sales Engineer also gave me free shipping to Hawaii that should have been like US 60-80 dollars, KILLER deal man! 🤘 PS for like over a year I've been looking around for a US 180.00ish Jackson Limited Edition BlueBurst Minion RR V (3/4 size but still regular 24 fret) for a travel guitar, so nice catch matey, lol!

Jackson also made a similar Rhoads V but non-reverse headstock and ebony'ish type of board, both in red/black and yellow/black. Not sure if they're the same JS series, but I've seen them.

Glad you finally found one of these for your collection Max. What an awesome looking guitar. I love the Jackson-Rhoads shape. Wish I’d seen these when Guitar Center had them for sale. $250-300 The one I almost let get away in 2019, a Schecter C-1 Blood Moon in mint condition under $500. Made for one year limited production in South Korea 2009. These are beautiful full mahogany solid built guitars. Looking forward to hearing the new album Titanium Reign. 🤘🏼🎸☮️

Very good review. I have one of these in the h-s-s pickup configuration. The guitar looks and feels great and it's true that the bridge is probably its weakest point. To this regard let me add that the bridge nut, where you screw in the whammy bar, will get loose with use. The issue for me is that if you want to tighten up the screw from the back panel... you can't without fully removing the floyd rose, which is a major pain in the butt. (I let the luthier do that with the rest of the periodical maintenance). Also, the pickups are not amazing, quite loud, but lacking definition and real punch. (I've changed mine) Frets: I find the frets protruding a little bit too much. Tuners: they are a bit loose, especially when you release the string, so I find it better to release a bit more and then tighten up again for best intonation, but this is not a real problem. However, for the price, and with some minor adjustments, you can transform this budget guitar in a little Heavy Metal Wonder. So definitely recommended, especially to be the base for what you really want to obtain, because at the end of the day, what really captivated me about this guitar, was the neck, which is absolutely fantastic if you want a shredder guitar.

I'm not much of a metal guy, my guitar collection is more acoustic blues and rockabilly oriented. However I've always loved Randy, his music and his guitars. This model has a great price point for me to grab one of these and start shredding.

Yup, I see them here & there. A maple neck & fretboard, reverse headstock & winning color scheme, maybe I’ll pick one up as this economy gets worse. Because you did that Mitchell HD400 review a few years ago when GC was blowing them out, I had a total of 7. 3 slime green & 3 blue maple veneered. I let the red one with rosewood go. All about $200 ea with tax & shipping. I had a guy from Suhr who did set ups look at one of my Mitchell’s & he was pleasantly surprised. Anyway, great find & review on this Corvette/ Ferrari guitar of yours. Looking forward to seeing this in the future with new pickups. & yes, I regret letting go of my George Lynch Kamikaze (2 , I think ). I see one on Reverb right now at about a grand with shipping.
