The last time Lennon played his ‘64 Rickenbacker 325 was during the Beatles final UK Tour in December 1965. It wasn’t until April 1966 that he received his Epiphone Casino. In 1968 Lennon gave his Fireglo Rose Morris Rickenbacker 1996 to Ringo Starr as a gift.

The Rickenbacker order form only shows serial numbers V81-V86. There was a carved-top prototype 325 before V81, but it’s likely that Lennon’s was the first regular 325 built.

Why did John change the knobs . He was a heavy strummer if you do this you hit the knobs and change the volume tone small round less chance of moving 🤗

The knobs were constantly falling off. You can see a lot of pictures with him holding the guitar missing a knob or two.

Ron DeMarino was a butcher, plain and simple. Look closely at V81 after his "restoration". He stained the guitar AROUND the pickguard! Look at the lower left by the bridge and pickup, a huge area with no stain at all. It should be left this way only because John was the last one to use it. Still, a disgrace.
