I seldom eat out, but when I do, the Gurkha is my "go to" place. I've been visiting for over 15 years, the food always exceptional, and the owner a rightfully proud warrior, kind and engaging. My routine is: soup - hot and sour or won ton, followed by duck and pancakes, a break, then veges/salad and chinese small portions or nibbles, and finally the Gurkha Lamb Curry, which really packs a punch, and that from one who can stand a Vindaloo, be sure to make this your last dish or you won't taste anything else thereafter! Massively recommended by me.

I usually get a naga or chilli masala curry. I've had phall, none were as hot as the Gurkha one, I had a plate of it and it just gets hotter and hotter, even after you've finished it, the burn keeps getting worse, I've never had anything like it. The waitress told me she doesn't think you're supposed to eat it on it's own, more like mix into the other curries to make them a bit hotter. You can't eat all that she said looking at my piled up plate of it, I did but regretted it.

I had many birthday meals in the Gurkha over the years. It was always my favourite place. The toilets were spotless and there were so many Gurkha souveniers inside the waiting area in the ladies toilets. It is truly a Blackpool treasure to be looked after.

My late father would have loved this. He fought with the Gukha's in Burma, reckoned they were the bravest of the brave and lovely people. Keep up the good videos Steve!

That is a wonderful restaurant. All that memorabilia is great . the Ghurkhas are a proud nation and have served the British very well over many years. No one messes with a Ghurkha. I bet they do not get many 'rowdies'. Great videos but makes one feel hungry for that hot lamb curry.

Excellent Video Sir. I doubt you’d get any trouble in this establishment and if there was it would be sorted out very quickly. I’ll have to pay a visit, I served alongside my Gurkha Brothers in the Army. Honest, Genuine & Great, loyal people who I respect enormously and as Soldiers the bravest of the brave, glad that they’re on our side believe me.

Wonderful video Stephen. Wished I'd gone in there now when I was in Blackpool. But I did have my photo taken with a dear chap at Fleetwood Market who was collecting donations for the Rifles. My dad was with the Gurkha Rifles in Malaya 1952. He had a lot of respect for them. I have my dad's kukri. Thanks again for a wonderful video xx

That looks absolutely spot on Stephen, the beer prices are quite good too I noticed the guinness was £3.90. In my ex local it's £5.20. Hence it's my ex local, I go to town can get an excellent pint of guinness for £3.20. A great review again thanks for sharing it.👍

Nice food vlog Stephen. You should definitely do a few more of these. That Ghurka Lamb Curry looked the real deal and mighty hot. Nice looking crispy duck pancakes too. I do enjoy I nice pint myself occasionally although I’m not into this real ale thing. A nice ice cold lager or cider in the summer. All looks very scrumptious Stephen 😉👌

Great video! I used to eat at an oriental buffet in Manchester, but this looks better! Decently priced, both in the restaurant and bar. Might just keep away from the spicy stuff though! Thanks for sharing 👍

vegetable gyozas are little chinese dumplings with vegetables in you dip them in sauces like soy sauce, they are delicious. I would choose the chickpea and spinach curry with lentil daal and pilau rice. Although I would probably love to try the Gurkha vegetable curry but it sadly says mild (I can tolerate heat lol)

Always prefer a smaller buffet as think more care is taken in cooking regional dishes as the chefs not cooking so many dishes. I will visit when coming up in August and drop your name when getting there

I’m going to imagine they are going to get a lot of the ambulance crew getting their dinner from that restaurant hehe I was going to cheekily say “I bet he drinks Carling Black Label?!” Hehe when it comes to spicy food, the trick isn’t milk or cold drinks or alcohol, it’s naan bread or the equivalent so it scrapes away the residue spices.

Cheers...Stephen, I like, very nice ,,, Duck looked nice not sure about the pancake , the lamb curry looks good, should've had some fruit, to re-freshen , mango or kiwi or something for your afters :) Lemon cheese looked nice ... Nice place, reasonable price's.... thks for the info; not that I eat out often, rather cook myself, I'm a bit of a germ a phobia :) ... that said, if I like the place , different story :) This place had lids over various dishes , cake dessert.. Went in the Gurkha about 12 years ago when I first moved to Blackpool and the food was great. After going a few more time we noticed the ingredients was been watered down or they was buying cheaper ingredients. Also they was trying to past lamb of when it was goat and my brother knows the difference as his a chief in a top London restaurant. People in Blackpool seem to think the food is great at the Gurkha but I disagree as lots of people from Blackpool don't know what good food is and will accept any rubbish been dished up to them.
