it's actually a really interesting history! Skydiving was actually a concept for hundreds of years before there was actually any practical ways of executing the idea. Some drawings date back to 1100 CE (in China). I guess it's human nature to want to soar through the skies and get to somewhere you shouldn't and do something you shouldn't. The first actual skydiver was a frenchman (unfortunately). In 1797 (during the french revolution!!!!) Someone called André-Jacques Garnerin jumped from 2.000 to 3.000 feet high, although i'm not sure whether you could call it jumping. He made a contraption (very similar to a balloon) that would put him into freefall, a basket with a parachute attached, that would only start slowing him down relatively close to the ground, hence it is called "the first skydive". After the first skydive he wanted to do another one, but this time with a woman aboard. The French police was apparently convinced that female organs wouldn't be able to handle the decreased air pressure, so that never happened lol. anyways cool video
