The 2024 NHL Entry Draft is filled with a lot of top NHL prospects. Some are elite, and others could be even seen as franchise NHL prospects. They have enough smaller forwards...they need Cole Eiserman..size for playoff time and probably the best PPG guy for the NHL eventually...MSL will refine is style playing like he did with Caufield..Catton, Iginla, Connely etc had too much lightweight on the Mtl Roaster.

@@benozkleenex Eiserman stats online put him at 17 years old (meaning more growing up) and 6' tall at almost 200 lbs...dont know where you get Iginmla has a bigger player at 5'111/2" Tall and 181 lbs? Look at the World junior 18 right now...Eisermen is top scorer and probably will win Gold with the U/S Team...Iginla will be a Max Domi at best. Eiserman, once a MSL teach him to become the best player he can be...a Stamkos likely.

Don't forget they have 2 first round picks, (assuming) 5th and 16th. Lindstrom or Catton at 5th is fine and they might be able to snag Eiserman at 16th (though I think he'll be gone before then), Connelly, Chernyshov would all be nice picks.

Best that WPG pick can be is 25th, and that is only if other teams that were better than them get knocked out in the 1st or 2nd round. Carolina vs NYR in the 2nd round, one of those will loose, which will make the Wpg pick better. Dallas gets knocked off, even better.

The odds are we pick 5-7, which case either lindstrom or catton are BPA and available OR we win the lottery and get one of celebrini or Demidov which are also bpa we fill both the positional need and the bpa requirement in both scenarios.

Matheson and pick 24 for pick 2, 3 , or 4 adds up to at least 2 solid additions with our #5 pick! Catton, Iginla, Lindstrom or Demidov. So our lineup would be.....Suzuki, Cole, Lindstrom. Dach, Slav, Mesar, Newhook Roy, and Catton......or Iginla or Demidov. With a D that,'s deep we should be a strong challenge for the playoffs. MSL has a lot of promise. Oh yes a 4th line of Beck, Evans and Armia who can score and shut down as well as HABS checking lines from the past...

Simplying it as much as possible, I think depending on what defense are still available and the actual position of he pick, as fwds I only consider drafting celebrini, demidov, lindsrom or iginla. Levshunov drops to 5-6 I am taking him alllll day. A dickinson or parekh on the board there is a harder call. It is a tough draft to choose unless you pick 1st. I think even demidov could fall a bit. The scouts and GMs will earn their paychecks on this one.

Just like we knew weeks in advance it was going to be KK, We can easily predict who they are going for: Cayden Lidstrom if he's available, or Tij Iginla if not. Habs telegraph their picks VERY hard if you live in the area.

The problem with positional drafting is that it needs to have an instant impact. Otherwise, that position can be filled in the 2-4 years it takes for that player to develop. It's silly!

Not all players will have a personality that will adapt to the hockey craze city of Montreal, hence one of the reasons the Habs drafted Slavkovsky over Wright. IMO I would say a forward makes sense ( Lindstrom, Catton, Iginla ) but if there's a dman we can draft that is potentially better than what we have in our system then I would rather have them take him and trade assets to get more scoring on the 2nd or 3rd line ; where that will come from? Who knows, all theory . I have trust in this management for the time being, I trust whomever they select that they went beyond their due diligence to make sure they're hitting a home run with this pick ; think about it, many teams would kill to draft at the #5 position so it's all about drafting who will benefit us as an organization long term

Best player available at their rank... if it's a D well go for it and your gonna have a big fat wallet when the time come to shop around... imagine having 5 young top D and you need to trade one of em, pair him with your first round of that year and you got yourself enough to bring in top talent up front or one of the best offensive veteran available

They need a plan if Demidov drops- I know his stock looks unshakable right now and on a personal note Im VERY confodent about his skillset but hes got a lot working against him in terms of what traditional scouting departments are looking for- hes russian AND the MHL specifically is not exactly a high quality league and is notoriously hard to project out of. If they pass again on the uber skiled russian player for another safe bunt- either up front or on D then theyll have mixed a ridiculous opportunity. Suzuki is a badass- hes a future captain- a character fuy and he can score... BUT in an ideal world hes your number two center. Demidov feeding either Slaf or Caufield (or both) has the capacity to be gamebreaking cheat code level stuff. Heck even if he falls short of that and they just het a solid top sic center it still adds so kuch vakue to that lineup...

Most valuable player available is more like the way Hughes thinks. He knows he can draft whomever he thinks will either fit with this team, or be valuable enough to bring a more seasoned player. Hughes has proved he can spot talent, and negotiate with the best GMs in the NHL.

Last year they didn’t pick BPA when Michkov was available. I’m the first one to pray for high offensive talent but if BPA is a D, and you can’t trade up or down, pick the BPA. You shouldn’t draft by need when you’re in the top 5. What if the BPA d is the next Bobby Orr. Get the best player and let’s hope it’s an offensive dynamo.

For me, I do one of a couple of things. Mostly I would take Either Demidov, Lindstrom, Catton at #5, Then I would try and work a Deal with Ottawa, they are at the point now where they are ready to make a step to compete and have holes to fill. Mostly a solid stay home D, much like a David Savard type. Ottawa has 2 picks in the first rd, So I would Offer Ottawa our Jets pick #27 and Savard(or whatever package) for their #7 pick, they still have 2 first rd picks and they get a solid Dman who blocks shots PK's and has cup experience to help a young team. Then if Lindstrom is not taken by Utah, then I take Lindstrom at #7..if he is gone I take Catton......OR trade the 27th pick and some packager to move up to try and get Tij Iginla or Carter Yakemchuk, yeah i know he is a D but he is the right kind of D, big, solid, good skater, can score with 30 goals in WHL, 71 points and over 100PIM's, Perfect Shutdown D to pair with Arber Xhekaj.. Thats my scenarios

Yeah, I don't think there is any chance they draft a defenseman. I'd put a higher chance of them trading DOWN than drafting a defenseman. Philadelphia is a good candidate for such a trade. Sure, they have Cam York now, and Oliver Bonk is an up-and-coming solid defenseman, but neither of them is that first-pairing, young offensive defenseman that would really solidify their d-corps (while Montréal has both Guhle and Hutson as 1st-pairing guys, the former a 2-way guy, and the latter in the puck-moving/offensive category). So a guy like Levshunov, Parekh or Dickinson would be *_extremely attractive_* to the Flyers...and all three of those players will be gone in the top 10. SO if one of their defensive targets is available at #5, I can see Philly sending their #12 and whatever the 2024 Florida 1st-rounder they own becomes (probably #29-32, as the Panthers are looking pretty strong) to get their man. Doing this would give Hughes and Gorton the opportunity to grab a guy like Iginla, Greentree or Connelly at 12, any one of whom is exceptional. And then, Montréal would have two extra 1st-rounders - the Winnipeg pick (which is looking a lot better now that the Jets are down 3-1 vs. the Avs...I like the Jets, but I wouldn't be THAT sad if their immediate loss gave us the 23rd overall pick), and the Florida pick. And those could be used, OR they could be packaged (more likely), with a young defenseman with decent potential like Jayden Struble or Jordan Harris, to land someone like Zegras in return. The Ducks are earlier in their re-build, they can wait for late 1st-round picks to pan out. Zegras is wasted on them. Can you imagine Zegras, Suzuki, Caufield, Slafkovský and Hutson on the powerplay? Because I can! But none of that is going to happen, because the Habs are getting Celebrini!

At this point he has to select another D as the top 5 will be better than Reinbacker (who he projects as a 2nd or 3rd pairing).
