I may be completely off here but the most important part of the maneuver, apart from the Bing-cherry climbing angle, is righting the boat quite a bit during the Bing cherry-angle stroke when compared to the extreme lean of the reverse stroke. If you keep leaning hard while Bing-cherry stroking, you fall in....like me :-)

My favorite stroke that leads to capsize! Leon, I love it, but can't seem to get that hang of it. Gotta keep trying. This video should help, thanks for posting it.

Thanks for the clear instruction I first notice a similar stroke at the one minute mark of the KZbin video down bellow by the yellow Kayak. I have been trying it in the pool it's quite powerful and fun COSTA BRAVA EXPERIENCE (Jugant al Cap de Planes!)

Yes, you’re an amazing kayak instructor. That said Leon, the Boat you’re in the Romany has a huge amount of turning ability that other boats don’t have so it’s not gonna be easy for everyone to do this like you can in that boat. This is not to take away from your skill or expertise, but the boat is very easy to turn like the Tiderace Excite , and many other peoples boats are not even close to that boat. You might want to address us in a future.

Ooooh, Gonna practice that one. It looks great. Though at the end I hear "harder than I thought it was". Isn't that often the case? Leon, you just make it look so easy! BTW: it's Kristin here admiring your style as always.

Paddling in castaic! Nice. I used to cliff jump there when i worked at 4 Winds. I met u in 2008. Bought my first Werner from u. Do u have a retail store in Anacortes?

How many times can I expect to capsize when I start practicing this?

Really a couple of intense low brace turns followed by a hinted at J-stroke, but definitely an arrow that shouldn't be missing in any paddler's quiver of techniques.

Side skulling but a different purpose. Looks easy if you do this. I must practice this slick manoeuvre hard.

I've gotten pretty good at this but i've noticed that my paddle blade doesn't go as deep in the water as yours does, and my hands usually stay dry too

Looks more like a reverse sweep storke with the sea kayak steeply edged, an then someone giving it a new name. As long as you show good commitment to the blade and keep your body forward this can be a useful and easy way to control and turn your kayak both quickly and smoothly when required.

*Gets recovery angle wrong* *Promptly faceplants into the water* A side benefit is that this stroke will give you plenty of opportunities to practice your roll as well.
