The best aspect ? This ladder conforms/wraps to the exterior of the tree trunk for stability. Nice touch indeed.

The first clove hit h you made at the top of your poles, In the fire service we call that “throwing a clove.” Semantics, I know, but you are clearly a knot expert. Thought you might like to know some more nomenclature. Another great video. I’m now going back through your years on the channel (as I am a fairly new subscriber) watching everything. Thanks for another great video!

Great idea to make a portable Deer stand. I got about 1000 feet of Mule Tape from my last job. Clove Hitch sometimes called Double Half Hitch and Half Hitch I use all the time pulling cable, those hitches make it easy to loosen and slide up to get another bite.

I made one of these ladders at scout camp last week. The poles were eight feet long, with a stasile rope on one pole and a nylon climbing rope on the other. We climbed it to put up tarps eight feet off the ground. Worked very well. To move it you take the cross slats out and just mov3 the poles. Good to go.

Never seen that before, beats tying every rung with bankline or paracord, don't have to cut it. Thanks Cpl, that was outstanding!

I've also found something called a "Ladder Lashing" which is a little more complex than this, uses more cordage and presumably a little more stable.

Thanks for showing us this. How would you secure the construction against sideways sliding. Say the example being you need to scale a wall or fence where you won't be able to secure the vertical bars around something. This gives a case where there might be a sliding sideways motion. I see one option, being the X with the surplus rope, would that work?
@recall58118 жыл бұрын
There are different rope ladders for different things, this one is for trees or columns on a building, I will post more in the future. Thanks for watching

@@recall5811 This is quite an ingenious ladder. Stumbled across looking for a way to build a ladder for a short loft area. Not sure this will work for that but definitely learned something useful for another day.

@hendrixphish4207 жыл бұрын
could you do this with paracord or would the weight be too much for the cord as you climb the ladder?
@eddierichardson12622 жыл бұрын
I have a question ? Hope it is not stupid, but was wondering what do you use to keep your knife, axe, shovel sharp? Do you keep something in your pack?
@seccondmousegetsthecheese42054 жыл бұрын
It does seem that placing a foot outside the half hitch would send the rung flying. I like the idea but i think id prefer if the rung were tied off. Great vid though. Those clove hitches are often under utilised for such a simple knot.
