Soldiers in Burma weren't demobbed when the war ended in Europe. My father was in Burma and didn't get home until 1946.

They only mention 1946 in terms of them being discharged that year from the Army. You've been mistaken.

Ummm.... WWII ended in 1945. Why are they being tortured by Japanese in Burma... in 1946? It's not like they didn't know that in 1960.

He was "DE mobbed" in 1946. Demobilized. Clearly you and your 7 admirers don't know that term. It means discharged from the army. He wasn't tortured in 1946 and in the movie they never state such either.
