and yes, I love a good robin hood story. It's nice to have recaps on the market - good shows - (shows worth watching and re-watching) will find their deserved views anyways. Such a good recap can serve not only as a time saver, but also as the best quality trailer for shows which have figurative legs to stand on.

@@michalrehacek3462 Why robbing stream giants? I always watch these recaps when the new season lands. I would never rewatch the whole series just for recap and refreshing the story, that would be too much wasted time, but quick recap before hopping to next season? Why not.

@@nicks.4276 Yes, but you can still be curious and interested in the story. Similar to wanting to watch a horror movie because it has a good plot but you’re too scared to watch the whole thing. Recaps by someone else are easier and less scary.

I’m also curious but it’s just too graphic for me. Surviving something similar is tough enough but shows like this really enable a lot of processing. That’s why it’s good in a summary. I don't think they should watch this, but rather watch documentaries of hospitals made to take care of brides in the Middle East who have tried to light themselves on fire to escape forced marriages. See, liberal American women think that America is living in the Handmaid's Tale now because, oh no, there are laws regarding when abortions can happen. Or oh no. They get catcalled and the police do nothing. They have no comprehension how lucky we have it in this country. I know Indian women are high risk in a lot of ways in India, too :/ They literally dressed up in those dresses and sat out on our highest court's steps because they didn't want abortion rights to be determined at state level. Yeah, that's right. Abortion wasn't 'taken away'. Every state allows for them, in different circumstances, and people were acting like women are going to be forced to give birth no matter what. The press even tried to be like 'white supremacists forcing white women to get pregnant' but couldn't cite sources.

This show desperately needed to end three seasons ago. It's mindblowing to me that they are still, as of 2024, working on the final season. Season 1 was boss, season 2 was okay... after that, it went off the rails. Margaret Atwood's vision was shocking and that's why the first season was so good. The shock value had deep impact with the implications of the plot. In later seasons, the shock value had no rhyme or reason.

Great recap - thanks @Man Of Recaps. The show got really silly after series 1, then with June going back to the US - it's like they couldn't let the lame trope of the crazy deranged woman-on-a-mission-woman go.

I haven't seen the new episodes yet but I'm fully expecting solid 34 minutes of an episode to be a closeup of june's face. Elisabeth has flawless skin care routine, i can tell that much.

Spoiler alert, I swear the first episode ALONE was a solid 45 minutes of closeups of her face but the second and third were a bit better 😂😂

@@Rachel_Love. the episode last season with her testifying against the Waterfords was hilarious, just en entire episode of the camera barely moving away from her face

I'm not gonna lie, I liked Emily's arc more than June's. I get that they tried to stay loyal to the source material for season one (season one is essentially the book), but once they moved beyond the source material, I wanted Emily to have much, much more screen time. I would have liked this show better if they hadn't been afraid to significantly change the focus of the narrative to other characters, and their struggles to survive, escape, and cope with the horrors that were put upon them. They could have done this while continuing to keep the resistance story going. Instead, we just got more and more plot armor for June, who if she were anyone else would have been dead long before season four. Now, on the eve of season five, it's just a cat and mouse thriller between June and Serena. On top of all that, there's fresh source material recently published by Margaret Attwood that carries the story forward, rather than focusing on just one protagonist. Homeland comes to mind with what I'm talking about. The Nick Brody arc was relatively short in relation to the rest of the series. I remember thinking the show wouldn't survive without Damien Louis. But, the mid to later season were the strongest of the series.

Yes! The series would be so interesting if it maintained the vibe Atwood set of people just vanishing, giving up on resisting or getting moved away as soon as they revealed anything interesting, to maintain the feeling that the eyes were always there and every tiny bit of info was a miracle! Swapping between main characters to focus on their struggles and specific dehumanisation would have been fascinating, especially seeing old names on paperwork or season arcs being referenced as “incidents” to new characters.
