I'm impressed with how good the drastic color grade/change looks, but I've never been able to manipulate my DSLR footage like this without the image breaking. What kind of file are you working with here?
@constantinosschinas45032 жыл бұрын
if your image breaks is due to A. high compression, use the highest bit rate available in your camera B. bad quality camera with aggressive Log profiles. If you have a mediocre camera, it is better to fiddle with profile settings within the camera (contrast, colour, shadows etc. or create a profile in windows in the canon case) that is close to the desires result. C. render/preview in 32bit color. It can make huge difference especially with multiple effects applied.

I got the xrite color chart video and tried the cinema grade. I did use the color chart function, but it is so bad that when i drag the square box the inside circle get bigger than the color checker passport video. It definitely need another update and fix the problem asap. I would suggest the circle size remain same or slightly bigger.

There is a "warm white balance reference system" called warm cards to adjust the camera white balance. This may help

I am not an expert, but can‘t you just start from a neutral ground, match all cameras and then add the grade you like?

Something happened in the newest update on DaVinci Resolve. I always use the spidyrcheckr 24 color chart and I've always had amazing results with DaVinci. Now when I hit color match, everything is a deep red color. It's unusable. Would you have any idea why? I'm very new at color grading/correction and I'm also very new to DaVinci Resolve. As for the source, and the target color space, I've always just left them on whatever the default setting is. I'm not sure how to find my source gamma or what the target color space should be. I shoot on a Cannon T7i Rebel. Also, I want to sign up for color grading add on for DaVinci Resolve, but I've read a few things online that you need an Apple product to use your add-on with DaVinci. Will it work with DaVinci Resolve using Windows 10?

in FCPX there is no need to mask the single row of swatches to use the vectorscope. Simply mask the entire chart. That is why it is designed this way.
@colorgradingcentral4 жыл бұрын
There are other color swatches that would interfere in the vectorscope.
@ImaginetMedia4 жыл бұрын
No they would not. The RGBCMY swatch row clearly are shown in the scope when cropped showing the ENTIRE chart. Have you even tried it?. Do you actually think X-Rite designed a the VIDEO checker so you had to crop in on one row? Those other swatches are greyscale and skin tones. Gray scale all map to the center of the scope and skin tones map to the skin tone line. This is the VIDEO checker, not the regular colour checker used for photography. That one you would have to crop in on. If you are not cropping on the whole chart, and using that information, you are missing the whole point. Check out the demos from top KZbinrs,. It will take you ten seconds to learn how to use it correctly.

In some cases it would help, in some it wouldn't. The biggest drawback is cost. The chart is expensive. But it would definitely help for interviews. Where it wouldn't help is when doing handheld and/or changing lenses often during a shoot that features action shots and where I have to constantly move around and change camera settings.

A DP worth his money will get exposure and WB right in camera, notice how her lips look desaturated and lifeless even after the correction. And in narrative world, your actor often won't or shouldn't sit at 70 IRE. I would say if you have to match different cameras, this is a great tool. If not, just get a cheaper grey card and start to learn your craft properly.
