To me this is weird, I’m Jewish, half my family are Jewish but we always do the same as any other family I know for Christmas and because the rest of the country does Christmas it makes it that much more special than Hanukkah imo.

In all fairness most Christmas celebrations revolve around Pagan stuff and when adopting Christianity it was easier to select Yuletide/Winter Solstice to celebrate Jesus's birth. It's a bit like Easter just happens to be the Spring equinox. Easter Eggs have a lot more meanings such as new life etc like when chicks and bunnies are born. I guess the rebirth aspect relates to Jesus's resurrection as well, but I can see all of it being observed without it being strictly Christian. The UK, and the world, becomes more secular or even atheist but we keep these traditions still.

Funny, Christmas was actually invented by Pagans. Much of the world has been taught that the holiday marks the birth of Jesus Christ, but that's simply wrong. ... The two most notable pagan winter holidays were Germanic Yule and Roman Saturnalia. Christian missionaries gave these holidays a makeover and they are now known to us as Christmas. Christ wasn't even born on Christmas, he was born in the summer. Friends Mom and Dad are Christians, so she asked them about it and brought up pagans like me.. her mom apparently stuttered and said "well, we took it and made it better." Christmas wasn't the only holiday Christians gave a make over to- they also did it with Easter. Easter actually began as a pagan festival celebrating spring in the Northern Hemisphere, long before the advent of Christianity.

Considering Jews don't recognize Jesus as Messiah, and Christ is Greek translation for Messiah, imo the line "the birth of Christ" would be better changed to "the birth of Jesus of Nazareth" and "Christian" would be better replaced to "Notzrim" since in Jews eyes, it's not follower of Messiah, but heterodox Rabbi from Nazareth.
