Thank you, solved my problem setting up the clamps!

Thank you for the video. Just inherited some my dad got at an auction and was having problems with orientation. Yours was the first video that actually had panel clamps that looked the same.

@@timbeconaus Gidday Timbercon, I bought some Torqueta panel clamps. I thought I would share my set up. I have some 35mm RHS around the shed and thought ‘not going harm!’ Worked an absolute treat. Solid as a rock and straight and not flex at all. Just bought some plastic end caps and voilà. Thanks again.

Thanks for the video, I decided to buy this clamps after watching it. The masking tape tip is excellent. By the way, it would be a lot easier to turn the whole assembly the other way around, ie. the bar with the teeth should be on the bottom (as per the instruction manual). This way you can avoid the problem shown at 2:55, the top bar then can just be slotted in position without any problems. It should be noted that if you want to glue up panels of 19mm thickness, you need to shave off a 160mm x 6mm at the end of the bars with the winding handle (again as per the instruction manual, it’s very brief without any wordings). If you don’t cut out this indentation, the diameter of the middle axle is 25mm so it will interfere with the clamping of material less than 25mm thick. This model is far more superior to other models which have the plastic teething on both top and bottom bars (reviewers said they’re very fiddling to assemble).

Could you use 40mm steel SHS instead of the hardwood for this??

Yes absolutely :-)

Nice video, well spoken and good camera work. Can I ask, up to what length of panel can you get away with 2 clamps? Like you said I'd use 8 or 10 sash clamps for a panel that size.

Hi Peter, we generally still recommend about 400 - 450mm between clamps where possible.

Those panel clamps seem a bit fussy. There was also some camera cutaways. Where those to edit out the difficulties you had with the clamps?
@timbeconaus6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your question, Kroban3. Our panel clamps are actually quite highly rated. There is a bit of setup work, but they serve their purpose well. The cutaways serve a few purposes 1. To give the viewer a closer view. 2. To break the visual monotony of a single camera perspective. 3. To economise the video run time. They do not serve to hide difficulties.

The hardwood you use for the bars has to have zero flex in them, as this system has a flaw in that the bottom of the clamp is pulling the end of the bar upwards at both ends which will cause your bar to bend in the middle

Animation would be better demonstration than this...

Sorry BougieBao. We are a woodworking retailer. We don't actually have an animation department.
