Nicely done Drew. I can't really add much more apart from the location of the stations which we can look at.

The site of harborne station is now housing estate and industry and that’s taking over the site where the station once was The site of the other three stations have been taken over by the harborne nature walk As for monument lane station which is the station change here for the chase line services into new street where the harborne railway came off from the station And as of today nothing of the station of monument lane survives

There’s about 5 stations on this route Harborne Hagley road Rotton park road Icknield port road And Harborne junction which it was normally called mounment lane junction And they were opened on the 10th of August 1874 Passengers services in this route ended by November 1934 But goods continued to used this line until 1963 before the line itself closed

The tunnel at icknield port road was filled in, but you can see the bricked up tunnel entrance below northbrook street and over the cut.

Interesting to see what it was like shame most old parts where filled in but it's cool to see evidence of where parts was

Cracking video bud. I walked it last year or the one before, can't remember now. It's surprising walking along that you are in busy parts of Brum like the Hagley Road, it was nice and quiet when I was down there. Great video,

Hi Drew. I've just found your channel and watched this video. First, I have to congratulate you on the quality of the sound with no wind noise. Also, I never knew this walk was available and one I must do next year in the warmer weather. Thanks for sharing your day.

The IWA used to do a walking route from Regents Canal in London to Gas St Birmingham all along the towpaths/cycle routes including the Grand Union with potential B&Bs to overnight along the way. I had a copy back in the 1990s which I planned doing from brumigum to London but never completed. I think the EEC funded the widening of the towpath for bikes as for some reason, at the time, they insisted it be cycleable. Then the Canal trust put gates in to stop kids on motorbikes.
@drewsoutdooradventures01 Жыл бұрын
Bet that's a distance from Birmingham to London probarly see some cool stuff along the way . Shame with the motorbikes it does spoil it at times get a few by me on those traveling up and down the canal

Have done some research on this line and to my knowledge nobody has identified where the sidings were for Chad Valley Toys. There are pictures of the branch for the M&B complex but the triangular junction has disappeared and finding it is guesswork.
@drewsoutdooradventures01 Жыл бұрын
Interesting mentioning that tbh I'll have to have a look at the book I've got on the railway did see something mentioning chad valley in it . But by what you mean that would be cool to find out for my second history video on this one
@petercutler77733 ай бұрын
If you go to the National Library of Scotland site you can see the 1904 OS Map and you can overlay Google Earth. The siding being marked into the Chad Valley Works on the 1904. All the best, Peter.
