I think it's kind of a cool idea to give off the message that even if all this tactical super cop stuff is badass and all, sometimes it's not always black and white. Some suspects choose to commit crimes due to the lack of choices society has for them. Especially in this mission. When I first did the mission, I didn't think too much of it, busted down the door, didn't leave a single one alive, enjoyed being a HRT operator kicking ass and putting down every threat. Until I decided to actually read the briefing, that was then I realized, jeez I really just executed a mother's child, let alone three or four of them in cold blood. They were just trying to fund for her medical care (through illegal reasons). It made me wonder you know, yea it's a game sure it's not that deep but it did made me question reality a tiny bit. I want and still do strive to serve as a "tactical cop" someday when I am much older, and there's no doubt that the current ones in service deal with this type of shit. thank you for coming to my TED Talk.

@@cagneybillingsley2165 that’s a fair point but still, it does make you wonder what can you do better as a LEO. @kakuja29779 ай бұрын
@@B-26354 That's also fair, and yes they chose to dive into this type of life with pretty much no regrets. Could they have made a better choice, yes of course definitely no doubt. Personal responsibility is huge in my book but just so to reiterate, we are seeing through the lens of us being operators/tactical cops, we have no clue or probably even the chance to find out if the boys feel regretful as they commit their crime, you could argue that yea they deserve it. However I think it's quite nuanced, I would love to hear your perspective, because this topic is interesting. (If we are on the same page, otherwise you can reclarify for me). At the end of the day, we aren't executioners, to some extent. Yes if they open fire and actively try to kill us, and we (fictionally speaking) as operators could have families or loved ones to live for. Then yes, I would not hesitate and put them down as scum. What makes it worse in my opinion is that the mother called it in, which makes it worse because that is who they were trying to get the money for in the first place. It shows how the mother did not want her sons to get into that kind of crime, adding onto this is that throughout the map you can see pictures of the family, even the room where their mother was before she passed had a get well card. (Via illegal means) Yet despite all of that from what I noticed; the mother is the one who called 911; despite her withering state, maybe it’s because she wanted to do one last right thing. We’ll never know. This world can be really dark and muddy at times, full of suffering, cruelty; and misfortune beyond compare. I’m glad the game doesn’t stray away from these topics. These need to be discussed, thought over more often, and we should all strive to treat others like people. Fairly and amongst equals. (I’m not justifying or excusing their actions, it’s mere analogy.)

After hearing the briefing at the station, I knew ther was no letal option I could take without feeling like an asshole, so immediately put together a non-lethal kit, unusual as every single last mission before almost took us to a breaking point, as a squad, but, more importantly, as humans. Los Sueños its a brutal world, and since our relocation at the new HQ, everyone had a survivalist mindset of ask quietly, instantly shoot and then ask again, this time loud (No one even flinched when we needed to shoot that streamer in the gut after resisting and pointing at us; him being an douche helped, but still). As a team leader, told my squad that they don't need to do the same if they don't want to, I would never put their lives at risk for something I believe, just knew that I couldn´t go through with it... Thing is, no one could stand that brieff unscathed: for some, it hit close to home, for others, the situation remembered them too much of their own young selves; a family, locked out in this decaying system, desperately trying to save their mother, no matter the cost nor consequences... Everyone took orange guns, tasers, spray and nothing else, even Hightower changed his usual Supernova for bean bags on this one. As we were leaving the station, we saw Chief on our way out, expecting some kind of chew off for this behavior and loadouts, due to his endorsment and usual requirement of more aggressive, stay safe loadouts and strategies. He only reminded us "It ain´t non-lethal, it is less-than lethal; try to aim low".

We all ran less than lethal but 2 of the boys just didn’t give up. Was a sad mission man
@Theengineer7484 ай бұрын
man i know the full context of this mission which made me cry during this vid cause its realistic.Things like this have happened before not all of them were making guns but they did do illegal things to make money to help their family.

I- I used cs gas and ordered my ai team to clear with flashbang on that room.... When checking on the mission briefing with the tablet, I came to realize that I could've potentially killed her. I now take caution whenever I enter rooms in Every. Single. Mission.

This was the only mission where I forced my entire to go non-lethal. I didn’t want to kill a son in his own home while his dying mother watched.

At 7:16 he’s got his back towards the operator. There’s no reason to shoot right away, should have told him to drop the weapon and only shoot if he turns around to shoot.
@pagingdoctorsideburns3 ай бұрын
The fuck? The guy hammered out like a dozen shots before being taken out. You see him hit an officer in the plate at 7:05
@jan_073 ай бұрын
@@pagingdoctorsideburnshe has his back turned, period. That’s just standard law enforcement protocol to tell them “it’s over, I’m behind you so might as well drop the weapon”. You’re also forgetting that there’s an operator in front of him, you can hit that operator accidentally as well. Never engage back and front at the same time, just standard operating procedures for safety of your men. You only shoot behind if there’s a hostage or if the guy is strapped in bombs.

I like how nuanced of a stance the game takes about being an officer. Situations like this are hard to watch. On the one hand, even if the family was forced into this, they still need to be brought to justice. Unfortunate circumstances don't excuse crimes of this calibre. But on the other, what does killing solve for the family here? I'm glad the game has non lethal options (or as someone pointed out below me: "Less than lethal.") so you don't have to approach situations with the intent to kill, and that can be just as effective as lethal options with the added benefit of not widowing families or making orphans. Ready or Not is one hell of a game.

The first time I played this I tried to use less lethal but didn't work I forced my pistol and I gun down the sons I hated every second of it. Worst mission ever but it was my duty as SWAT to carry out order. SWAT will sometimes see hard things that we don't and it sucks

I just did this mission for the first time yesterday. I didn't really read the description of the mission, but when I heard everything the AI was saying I felt kinda bad. The suspects were talking about "Hey it's going to be alright.. Go check on mom." And then I found the old mother in the room with all the medical set-up.. Man I felt bad for having to raid that house. Especially when the mother asked, "Let me talk to my sons, please..."

Idk why, but the fact that you just cleaned a damn platoon of heavily armed and trained veterans, and now you're up against a couple of kids that can barely hit a target - it really adds the weight to this mission somehow

First time in this mission I read the briefing and knew what was going on (that is what is suposed to be for). Equipped non-lethal weapons and went in praying for the best. I decided to take the risks. The result was the family aprehended and one masked guy shot dead in the kitchen. No elements injured. EDIT: The problem of the AI is that they dont get the background of the situations. So for this one I decided to keep them in the back and do the clearing myself, knowing when to move back and just take some cover instead of shooting to kill. This game is awesome in this aspect, the way it makes you be deep inside the situation. I love it.

Definitely glad I handled this mission well first try. Ran w beanbag shotty and ordered the team to hold the exits outside. Cleared the house myself w no casualties. All due to reading the briefing beforehand, just wanted to make sure the mother doesn't lose her sons when they didn't deserve it.

My first playthrough, i the dad bursted out the second story door firing at us and we had to put him down. Upon entering, we eliminated two of her sons, a friend who fired upon us from the garage, and moved to the second deck. There, the mother and son stood in a bathroom doorway. The son fired upon us, but the mother was in the hallway. We elimimated her sons one by one, their friend, snd her husband. Ultimately, she too perished as during the conflict in that last hallway, she was caught in the crossfire
