A sense of pride - Over a movie? You think black people didn’t exist in American history or something - or that we can’t craft a decent movie narrative? Read a book! It’s statements like that which make us appear invalid. It’s should be taken for granted that we always could; always had the potential- but just didn’t have the same chance. That this film offering here is a good piece of work is of course taken as a given- automatically and naturally so; not to be viewed as an exception. But still have a critical eye. Don’t be too proud over art - never act surprised because there’s a whole lot more history to be told. Expect no one else but US to tell it. And when we do - confidently take it in stride. .

@stryfetc1 To the untrained eye, maybe. Only that i's not like Django at all and that's what makes it fresh. 1. It's Black made 2. Not a slave in sight ( Thank God). 3. Black people in this do not need a white person to save them or to rally against. 4. the cinematography and photography in this has its own palette, using lights and colors like a comic book, giving the movie its own look. 5. The use of real historical figures never seen on film. I love Django but Django is its own thing. So is Posse...
@mpeekay76
@mpeekay76 2 жыл бұрын
@stryfetc1 Nat Love was a real person who was indeed born enslaved but again, the movie saves us from having to sit through that as it's not relevant to the story in the context of this movie. I love QT and Django Unchained ( Hateful Eights even better) for what it is. I'm just celebrating that The Harder they Fall stand as its own thing and doesn't need to be compared to Django as they don't have the same theme outside of the Black Cowboy trope.

@@mpeekay76 damn just wrote something similar to that, than checked and realized we wrote the same thing and deleted it. Was so happy to see these aspects in a film I’m tired of the white savior and slave or even chain gang. Wanted darker woman to match there male counterparts but it’s really a one of a time film right now.

@dct124 2 жыл бұрын
@@jamalvines2133 you may want to learn a bit more about history, especially how it was skewed in Hollywood for multiple generations. Tombstone was just above average but that's personal perspective and opinion. My oldest brother loved it, I've never been able to stay awake watching it. But Dirty Harry and 3:10 Yuma is a different story. By Rotten Tomatoes standards and with far more reviews was consistently rating very good in comparison even by past critics standards. Both films are westerns but tbh not entirely comparable. Bloodsport and Back2The Future are both action movies but you wouldn't directly compare them, maybe TimeCop vs Back2The Future b/c both are action & sci-fi but one takes itself far more serious than the other. Tombstone is the equivalent of TimeCop and The Harder The Fall the equivalent of Back2The Future in that it's not taking itself that seriously.

At 22:16 they begin to speak about Trudy and Buck, honestly I love that scene! For me it represented black love truly, Trudy and Buck were together for a long time and Bill was apart of that connection as as a friend of these. Was represented as Buck laying his head on Trudy & Bill’s shoulder with such tenderness by all actors was tremendous! I loved that because that’s how we are, it can be seen as indifference but really there is love and protection there. Unspoken, real and powerful!

I'll say this, imagine in America at least 80% of the black population, experienced this film in their own parallel reality especially black men. So I wrote my last comment before listening to Johnathan speak around the 12min, 13min mark wow. That's the nuance in that film that I saw and felt too without him having to explain it. Like I saw that painting (it's there and it definitely has meaning). Maaaan the shit I'm dealing with right now with my own father, trying, struggling, to find forgiveness for this man whom I never felt any sort of anger, resentment, hate, malice or pain my entire life up until I was able to catalog my thoughts and piece fleeting moments together finding truth from one of my brother's and beyond. Let me tell you this film is a reflection of my own life and probably many other brothers like me. So again I don't expect critics to understand the seriousness in this film, the message whew 😥. They haven't lived it, so I expect when I read their reviews they stay well on the surface. Oh it was a action western with comedy bits and this and that 🤦🏾‍♂️ this one in a way ain't for everybody.

@@Rhenadhis it's not real, it's blaxploitation, it's entertainment, it's an elaborate joke. You don't have to watch what I'm going to link below. In 2020, 200 rapper's died, mostly black, mostly to violence or drugs, young and old. The false front architecture which was real in history still exist today in parts of the world, but it's the parallel of entertainment media and social media fantasy as the false front architecture. The story told is the story written of today's troubled black youth and the turmoil of people in established society primarily from the black lens. You could say Django is told from another lens and well, Birth of a Nation told from a very very dark lens. I live it, I see it clearly. I understand speaking in code, seeing signals, gesture's day to day. Going into town to make an offer and not leaving in one piece. The ending used, was in a way to show how to heal but women today just want more. We don't ride off into the sunset, we bury each other, tit for tat. Meek Mill had an explanation when Jay-Z questioned his bulletproof SUV. He called it black-itest. The Great Gatsby, is in a way the white lens. Wall Street... There's a guy in an interview who explained something about the mind, his name was Bruce Lipton. He was explaining the book Rich Dad Poor Dad. The reason most won't get this film sorta. He was saying how things are instilled into people, children specifically and those things allow a level of unconscious thinking and behavior. Look that up Bruce Lipton Rich Dad Poor Dad (1min clip). You don't have to watch this video it's depressing for anyone. But here's the link. One of these guys was just a rapper from like Puerto Rico or something. He was kidnapped, beaten, tortured and unrecognizable when found, all b/c two men believed the illusion. They went back to his home a day or two later and robbed it of a few pieces of gold and pocket change, when they thought they'd find millions or billions. That happened last year. 200 Rappers gone in 2020 kzbin.info/www/bejne/haXPfqmNl9hgl9E

Go see it, you will not be disappointed. No cap it's the best movie out. I've seen Bond twice. I have the entire Daniel Craig set in my car, that's how much of a fan I am of Bond movies. Had a GoldenEye Z4. This movie is better. Seen Shang Chi which is by far the most beautiful Marvel film next to Black Panther and Guardians of the Galaxy. This film is that good if not better. I saw Dune and for a long film I stayed awake the entire time and thought it was good and definitely needs a sequel. This is definitely better though, not saying Dune is bad but Dune was missing that Mad Max gripping feel like when the War Rig was stuck and all went blue. Better than The Last Duel which is probably at the bottom for current movies out. It's not bad but it's boring asf. Venom is literally my favorite Marvel character and Tom Hardy is one of my top 10 favorite actors. Loved him in Locke and love the fact they don't hold back in Venom. Even the actress playing Scream, Naomie Harris who does great as Money Penny and loved that movie Ninja Assassin (better than Snake Eyes btw). This movie reminded me of Bunraku with Woody Harrelson in more an artistic way. It's more on the lines of 3:10 Yuma crossed with Kill Bill and The Warrior's Way but with strong messages if you can follow them. I wouldn't be surprised if it gets a low rating by critics because, it doesn't speak their language, it'll rub them the wrong way, theirs not a bunch of empty tears and it's definitely heavy on action but not over the top. There's many moments where you can't predict what will happen next and it has a great twist and cliff hanger. There's nuances to look out for. But it seems to me action movies automatically get deducted 3 stars regardless so I don't believe critics. I literally was on the edge of my seat, that never happens. Bond is beneath Casino Royale, Skyfall and if I'm being fare it's beneath Spectre. The second time I went to see it I fell asleep several times. I've seen the others over 10x and never fallen asleep including Quantum of Solace which is underrated, it's a true classic style Bond film even inspiring scenes in John Wick 3. I thought it was a 10/10 but if I'm putting it next to Revenant, Tenet, Inception, Die Hard, Black Panther, Fight Club, The Matrix, Blade Runner, Saving Private Ryan, Django, Gladiator, Troy, Red Cliff, and other great films I've enjoyed like Once Upon A Time In Hollywood. It's a movie that scores very high in my book. A solid 7, low 8. But for entertainment value and emotional/psychological connection 10/10

This film was the most powerful and welcome ritual. The ancestral reverence and celebration of Blackness was fulfilling and I couldn't ask for more in a film.

The movie was outstanding 👏 👌. The acting was awesome. Music unusually fit the western culture. Love that you see the characters for themselves. Didn't like western movies when I was growing up and I was raised in the 70s, but this western had soul in it. People don't realize that the title cowboys was given to black men who took care of the cattle. They all should receive an Emmy award.
