If you've played the console version of this game you know that Kazuya loves to do 10-hit combos and throws. The arcade version of this fight is very different. No 10-hit combos are thrown. He reads your inputs and responds with interrupts. He blocks unseeable moves on reaction. All you can do is hope to hit him as he breaks you in half. This was much more demanding and frustrating than Jinpachi. The latter is more unfair in his moves but his AI is pretty dumb. The Kazuya AI is inhuman in the worst way imaginable.

Fun fact about Tekken 2. In Heihachi's stage, there is Kazumi's and Heihachi's name carved on the floor. You can see it if you backdash a little bit. Kinda impressive that Kazumi was an idea 24 years ago.

The akuma special boss to me was far harder than jinpachi ever was. Jinpachi I could at least beat on default difficulty in t5. On t7 I have yet to beat him without resorting to story assist and the easiest difficulty.

Once you beat 1 or 2, possibly 3 if it's the beginning of the arcade tower, of the AI opponents with certain moves, they become unusable. I used to play a lot of Paul back then, and loved his Death Fist (D, DF, F + RP). And while it was a quick and strong move, after the 3rd or 4th arcade tower character, it became VERY hard to use. And it doesn't matter if the move has great frame data or not, cause eventually the AI becomes all but immune to it.

That's why tonight I was struggling like an idiot with Jun Kazama on tekken 2 from ps2's Tekken 5 disc, and I didn't go further after 1 hour. I came here on KZbin on purpose to see if there was anyone who could beat the last characters (from Michelle and so on), because I found almost IMPOSSIBLE to hit them. It's definitely too much frustrating. My version was the same AI of yours?

Now that I've beaten the devil kazuya myself, i can fully relate to this. It took me an hour and 7 minutes to clear T2 arcade, and 40-50 of this time, was me trying to beat the devil, using Heihachi. It was awful, but surprisingly I was pretty calm, that's probably the only reason why I've won at all. Advices to those, who for some weird reason want to beat kazuya themselves: 1) An obvious one. Evade fucking lasers, crouch under horizontal one, and dash away & jump from air laser. 2) Once he starts throwing you there's no escape. I call it "berserker mode", he'll start spamming throws till the end of round, so you should consider it a lost round. But actually, there's a way to escape his holds (of course it's not breaking away from them by pressing the right buttons, you won't have time for that), when you notice his two hands going your direction, just crouch, he won't be able to touch you then. Of course it's not that easy, because of the incredibly small window of time to escape from his hands. 3) Also pretty obvious, but try not to run headfirst into attacking him relentlessly, he'll read your inputs and will demolish you in no time. The whole fight against him is about to block (or evade) his attacks and poke him (if you're lucky enough, you can try to launch him by using something like twin pistons and then land a few d4's, while he's on the ground, but you need to do it extremely fast, he'll recover in no time). 4) The last and the most important advice - don't get your hopes too high up while fighting kazuya. He's cruel son of a bitch, that can take away your chance of winning at every second of battle. Remember to stay calm and concentrated. That's probably all i can remember for now, hope my advices will help you a little in your wonderful adventure to Tekken 2 Arcade

Managed to finish the arcade version(via Mame4droid app using a Bluetooth controller, Ultra Hard difficulty, time limit: 60, HP: 160) using Heihachi(10'48''33) and King 1(around 16 minutes) and yeah, a hell of an A.I., however, I also managed to finish the game using Paul under 4-5 minutes spamming Hangover + FF + BB + Burning Fist, Lei spamming Play Dead + Phoenix Strike, and Bruce spamming Bruce Special until Time Out(If opponent launched on the 3rd strike, will use tripe Knee Combo)

​@Dani1990 Here in the Philippines, especially me living in the outskirts of my hometown/city, video game arcade machines are almost everywhere around the 2000s-2010s then were replaced by the Mcbooted Ps2 and Xbox consoles(installed in an arcade-esque machine). Tekken, 2 or 3, is the most installed game because it generates income for machine owners by setting up the game to the most difficult setting, however, there is some random dude who is very adept in playing characters like Paul, Bruce, Heihachi, and Kazuya, is very knowledgeable in playing Tekken 2. And it turned out that he just knew the patterns of CPU characters by just spamming 2-4 moves and the game was cleared, the worst thing is he even managed to make a time record which everyone, including me, struggles every time just to clear a sub-boss battle. Lucky for me, I was the only kid the dude told his "techniques" and applied them except for Lei pattern which I originally created thanks to numerous gameplay and Philippine peso coins I spent. Btw: Tekken 3 ps1 is the first Tekken game I've played, then Tekken 2(arcade, ps1), Tag 1(arcade, ps2), Dark Resurrection(PSP, arcade), Tekken 1(via Arcade History of Tekken 5), Tekken 5(ps2), Tekken 4(Arcade), Tekken 6(PSP, PS3, arcade), Tekken 7(arcade, PSP via modded Tekken 6 thanks to Tekken Global Mod) and Tekken Tag 2(arcade Ps3), and all consoles except PSP are not mine Hahahaha

Apparently someone here doesn't know the almighty frankensteiner spamming on hard mode. It's simple, you do the first one, then wait till the opponent runs at you and you hit another if you do it at the right time.(Hard bot usually guards on frankensteiner but still takes the throw part of the move)

Fun fact: In the arcade options menu, the lowest difficulty is actually called "Dark Souls is for pussies.". Open up a T2 cabinet and see for yourself. Of course back in 1995 we were all like, "What the hell is Dark Souls?". Tekken 2 was just that badass.
