For those wondering why Richter and Shit Pit can’t complete them, their running animations are missing 1-2 frames of fluidity and just cycle, meaning there’s a 1-2 frame gap in the loop of their running which causes them to fall as the animation has broke off: it’s like there’s only a step animation played over and over but no step-step animation if that makes sense.

That would explain why they couldn't pass, but why didn't Nitendo use the same animation for both? Is it to make them look a little different? And what about Alph, who's just a skin of Olimar? They do look different, but it's so weird to think they have differences while just being skins. Though I remember female Robin being slightly better than male Robin in a very situational case...

It’s just how the animation processes. If they’re told to continue running the animation continues, as the game takes 1-2 frames to recognize ground and falling, if the animation cycle is just on repeat without being coded to continue but rather stop as soon as the ground is left (which is easier and the case here) the animation halts immediately as in that 1-2 frames there’s nothing to understand but falling because the animation ended.

It looks like a combination of run speed, air speed/fall speed, and in some cases, hitbox size. DK has a massive hitbox but no air speed, so he drops. Diddy has speed but no air speed, so he drops. But someone like Kirby has a small hitbox, slow speed, but makes it across because of his air speed
